I've always felt that the best way to understand a new place is to see how its people find energy, and how they waste time. So, when I had business to attend to in Nod-Krai recently, I made sure to sample the local cuisine and even stopped by an underground fighting ring or two. You won't exactly learn refined combat techniques in those no-holds-barred matches, but you can read a lot about the participants' personalities and ways of thinking from the way they strike and defend. I have to admit, I rather enjoyed the observation... and ended up staying a few days longer than planned. In any case, my work went smoothly, and since I was away long enough, it seems the affairs of the Fortress of Meropide managed to sort themselves out in my absence — a win-win situation, I'd say. Oh, and as for the part where I got a little carried away... let's keep that between us, shall we? | |
