A few days ago, a quarrel erupted between our young people and tourists from Fontaine. When I arrived, they were yelling at each other, faces flushed scarlet.

After calming everyone down, I realized that a single, innocent gesture had sparked the disagreement. The same gesture carried completely different meanings in the two places — in one, it was a friendly greeting; in the other, it was taken as a provocation.

Once the misunderstanding was cleared up, we all let out a wave of laughter. The Fontainian even remarked that I had prevented what might have turned into a full-blown "duel." People from different lands protect what they hold dear in their own ways. These days, I like to settle things with the warmth of a bonfire.

And it's that special day again — I've roasted some tender meat on hot stones and prepared chilled fruit drinks.

I've saved a place right beside me. The sky is clear, and the stars will be beautiful tonight. I hope you will join me.
