Today, Miko insisted that I visit the shrine and draw a fortune slip. She claimed that it has recently caught on in Inazuma to draw a fortune slip on one's birthday as a way to divine the fortunes of the year to come.

The first slip I drew bore the words "Great Fortune." Yet upon seeing Miko's knowing smile, I suspected some contrivance on her part. Thus, I drew twice more. The result remained unchanged: "Great Fortune." Miko then said,

"You are the deity who protects Inazuma. To draw 'Great Fortune' three times in succession is surely an omen that Inazuma, too, shall know peace and prosperity in the coming year."

If Miko's words hold true, then I could ask for no more auspicious sign. I have hung the fortune slips upon the Sacred Sakura, entrusting it with my wish that Inazuma remain under its protection.
