Profile
Parmenides is one of the "Uplifted," people chosen to be preserved as living memories in the Temple of Space. He hails from an unknown past civilization and is grateful for being at the temple.
Appearance
Parmenides is a tall, fair-skinned man with long blonde hair. He wears a toga made of layers of white and dark blue fabric. The toga is adorned with golden details and is held in place by a strap around his torso. Parmenides also wears black and gold sandals and a laurel wreath.
Dialogue
- Parmenides: Your footsteps carry a sticky sound. You've just come from the "outside," haven't you?
"Outside"? You mean outside the Temple of Space?
- Parmenides: Or rather, the illusory world of the senses. Everything there is far too unstable: The sky changes color, nations rise and fall, even memories fade away.
- Parmenides: That is why I'm so grateful to be here, a paradise in eternal stillness.
- Parmenides: Unfortunately, thanks to those fellows who love creating new things, even this place has become unsafe lately. That's why I'm forced to hide in this corner of the "Mahavaipulya Chamber."
Don't you want to go out and have a look?
- Parmenides: Hmm? I assume it's Mengzhou who sent you here to persuade me. That nihilist is the very incarnation of this illusory world. I suggest you speak with him as little as possible.
It's not that scary out there.
- Parmenides: Perhaps. But if you truly understood the eternal being, you would lose all interest in a world of ceaseless flux.
Sorry, I think I've taken a wrong turn...
- Parmenides: It's alright. Just try to keep the noise down when you leave.
