Trivia
- Tamoto's design is likely inspired by a Kokeshi doll, a traditional Japanese toy from Tōhoku region.
- They are also symbols of hopes for bountiful harvests, wishes for luck and fortune, and signs of appreciation for craftsmanship and culture.
- Tamoto's design composition could also be reminiscent to that of Hina dolls, typically displayed during Japan's Hinamatsuri festival as figures in highly layered clothing with handheld fans. Similarly, Tamoto wears layered sleeves and holds a pair of thread snips that mimic the dolls' signature fan.
Etymology
- The Japanese word 袂 tamoto means "sleeve," especially the sleeve of a kimono.
