St. Freya High School,[1] usually shortened to St. Freya High or just St. Freya, is a school for Valkyries founded by Theresa Apocalypse around the year 2000. Theresa intended the school to serve as a sanctuary for victims of Honkai testing that would help students learn to control and wield their powers then become Valkyries after graduating. The school is based on a reclaimed island in the Far East, which was given to Theresa by Schicksal Overseer Otto Apocalypse.[2] Thanks to its location, it is also referred to as the "Far East Branch" of Schicksal.

Valkyries studying at St. Freya have to undergo an examination each year.[3] The exam consists of multiple rounds of combat exercise, either solo or in groups,[4] meant to testing Valkyries' theoretical knowledge and combat prowess. Failing the exam can lead to demotion.[5]

Selene, an Anti-Entropy battleship, would be transported and undergo repairs there following its capture.[3]

    Investigations concluded that energy emitted by the Selene's power drives may have interfered with the Valkyrie's bio-chip. Repairs thus started in earnest.
    Meanwhile, the annual Valkyrie Examination was about to start.

    Theresa: The graders will rate you according to your performance. Winning is not everything, Valkyries.
