Atticus was a historical figure on Amphoreus.
History
When Viotis was a young boy, his homeland was consumed by the black tide, forcing him to flee alone to seek refuge with his compatriot brother, Atticus, in Okhema. On the journey, he was ambushed by bandits and severely wounded, but a passing hunter saved his life. Though he survived, the ordeal left him with a lingering ailment. After later falling into a ravine, Viotis lost all his memories and was taken to the Twilight Courtyard, where he could only mutter the name "Atticus." Following this clue, people located his elder brother, who cared for him and gradually helped him recover his past.[1]
Atticus was considered the most promising apprentice under the Chaplain. At some point, he was replaced by Cipher, who used her authority of Trickery to sneak into the dying Chaplain's quarters to see the fabled Gem of All Worlds, a fragment peeled from the Dawn Device. Mistaking Cipher for Atticus, the dying Chaplain revealed the truth behind Kephale's prophecy and the Dawn Device; that Kephale had given humanity a deadline, and the Dawn Device would burn for 300 years for humans to create miracles.
Hearing this, Cipher took it upon herself to proclaim Kephale's last words to the Okhemans at the Chaplain's behest. However, using her authority of Trickery, she instead made everyone believe that the dawn provided by the Dawn Device would last forever. The lie was eventually undone when Cipher was killed by the Flame Reaver. In her final moments, she reminisced about Atticus, calling him a "good kid."[2]
At some point after Cipher's lie, publicly known as the "Prophecy of Eternal Day," Atticus supposedly passed away prematurely due to illness.[1]
