Talk with the girl waiting for her friends
Mission DescriptionThe Moles' game of hide-and-seek is about to start. Talk with the girl waiting for her friends and join this exciting and exhilarating game!
- (Talk to Moles Sidekick)
- Cunning Child: It's almost time for everyone to meet up...
- Cunning Child: Why aren't they here yet?
- A kid is mumbling something. She looks like she's waiting for someone.
- You aren't quite sure if you have seen this kid before, but she does seem very familiar. You are certain that, at some point in your life, you've also met a kid with a similarly sly expression written all over her face.
Are you waiting for someone?
- Cunning Child: Huh? You're the honorary member, aren't you, (Mister/
Miss) (Trailblazer)? What are you doing here? - Cunning Child: Oh... I know! You are the person Boss Hook called to play hide-and-seek with us! Am I right?
- Cunning Child: Let's wait together here for the others to arrive!
- (Continues to next section)
- Cunning Child: Huh? You're the honorary member, aren't you, (Mister/
Don't bother her.
- (Exits dialogue)
- Hook: Oh, it looks like everyone's here!
- Hook: We'll decide who's it by rock-paper-scissors.
- Children: Rock! Paper! Scissors!
- Hook: Hehe... I didn't expect that I would be it!
- Cunning Child: Boss Hook is so scary...
- A More Cunning Child: Looks like it's time to go into serious mode...
- Not-Very-Cunning Child: Boohoo... The game's basically over already...
- Hook: Run as fast as you can! Find somewhere to hide!
- Hook: ...But that's all pointless! For I, Pitch-Dark Hook the Great, will find every last one of you! Hahaha!
- Hook: I'll say it again. The play area starts from this intersection all the way to the plaza! Hiding anywhere else is against the rules!
- (Trailblazer): (Find a good spot to hide in this area.)
Find Place to Hide
- Hook: One hundred and eighty, one hundred and seventy-nine, one hundred and seventy-eight...
Hide in the alley
Investigate- You fix your eyes on this narrow alley. To be honest, you've been wanting to explore it for a while now, but the sense of justice in your heart forbids you from stepping into this place.
- Perhaps now would be a good opportunity to check it out for the purpose of hide-and-seek. You aren't sure if this is against the rules or not...
- ...But it really is quite a hidden location. It's a small alley, the kind that has been blocked off. Naturally, anyone would want to go explore what's in there.
I'll hide here!
- You make the decision quickly. The way you see it, there's absolutely no way you would find a more secluded hiding spot in all of Boulder Town.
- (Continues to next section)
Find another spot.
- (Trailblazer): (Maybe I should look for a better hiding spot...)
- (Exits dialogue)
- With that thought in mind, you hop over the rusted fence, and make your way into the pitch-black alley.
- You had assumed that something incredible was going on here. Maybe there would be a tall, thin bandit with wiry limbs and wearing a white, skin-tight suit, wandering around on stilts while committing crimes...
- Or perhaps the alley would contain a burly figure wearing black from head to toe, with a mask and a solid black cape. Their voice would be deep, as if it was smoked by hot Geomarrow mines, and they would dispense justice in the dark streets of Boulder Town as a vigilante...
- ...Unfortunately, you find none of that. You feel disappointed and instead squat on a pile of crates in a corner, waiting for Boss Hook to catch you.
- Hook: Three... two... one...
- Hook: Ready or not, here I come!
- Hook: Hehe... the only one left is (Trailblazer). Where are you hiding? I'm going to find you!
- One hour later.
- Hook: Honorary member... You've hidden yourself too well, but I'm not going to give up so easily!
- Two hours later.
- Hook: ...Did (he/
she) go home already? - Three hours later.
- Hook: ...Whatever! We're stopping the game here...
- Hook: Moles dismissed! Sleep well and see you tomorrow!
- Children: Hey, time to go home!
- Looks like the children are already set to go home, even though they haven't found you yet.
- Of course, this could just be a ploy to lure you out... kids who manage to get recognition from Boss Hook and join The Moles are definitely anything but ordinary.
- So, what are you going to do? Will you go home with the children and go to bed, or will you prove to them that you won't take the bait?
I give up, Boss Hook!
- Just amuse the kids. You tell yourself there's no need to turn a game into a battle of wills.
- With that, you raise your hands and walk out of the shadowy alley and into the lit street...
- Hook: Hey, (Trailblazer)! We can't find you. We're getting ready to leave! You've hidden yourself too well!
- Children: You've hidden yourself too well!
- Hook: I can't find you! Where in the world were you hiding?
- Children: Where in the world were you hiding?
I was hiding in the alley.
- Hook: The alley?
- Children: ...
- Children: You cheated!!!
- Hook: Geez... Whatever! I, Pitch-Dark Hook the Great, did not explain the rules clearly... Anyway, honorary member...
- Hook: I, Hook, have decided that you win! Here is your prize. Take it!
That's a secret...
- Hook: A secret? OK...
- Hook: ...
- Hook: I'm really curious though...
- Hook: Geez... Whatever! I won't force you to tell! Anyway, you win! Here's your prize. Take it!
- Hook: Alright. Today's game of hide-and-seek is officially over! Everyone, go home and get some sleep!
- Children: Go home and get some sleep!
Why play if you don't intend to win? Stay hidden!
- You play to win. That's the basic code of conduct for any professional player. Hide-and-seek is no exception!
- And so, you remain silent, having decided to remain hidden in the darkness of the alley.
- (Teleports to Natasha's Clinic)
- Natasha: Oh? You're finally awake, sleepyhead.
Have you said something like that before...
- Natasha: ...Have I? Maybe. Anyway, we need to talk about why you're here...
How did I get here...?
- Natasha: Umm... It's a long story.
- Natasha brings you up to speed.
- Natasha: ...The point is, when Sampo brought you to the clinic, you were already on death's door. I thought he was up to no good again...
- Natasha: Luckily, it was just because you hadn't eaten for three days. It looks like you've pretty much bounced back. Congratulations.
JUST because I haven't eaten for three days?
- Natasha: If someone passes out in a dark alley... that's about the least concerning thing that could happen.
Thanks for saving me, doctor.
- Natasha: That's my job. If you want to thank someone, you should thank Sampo.
- Natasha: Just remember, when you play with Hook and the others next time, you don't need to play like it's a battle of wills...
- Natasha: You need to take care of yourself. Don't forget.
Hide out in the open
Investigate- You set your sights on the center on the plaza. To be honest, it's basically impossible to hide anything or anyone here. Standing here, you can feel everyone's eyes on you...
- ...But you enjoy THINKING OUT OF THE BOX. The most dangerous place is often the safest. Maybe Hook won't be able to find you, right?
I'll hide here!
- You make a snap decision. The most experienced of hide-and-seek players will choose to hide in plain sight... Well, that's what you imagine anyway.
- (Continues to next section)
Find another spot.
- (Trailblazer): (Maybe I should look for a better hiding spot...)
- (Exits dialogue)
- Hook Three... two... one...
- You can already hear Hook's cheery voice echoing from afar. What's going to happen now? You can't help but imagine it a sweat rolls down your back. This exhilaration must be the joy of hide-and-seek.
- Hook Ready or not, here I come!
- Hook ...
- Children ...
(Remain silent)
- Hook: ...Honorary member.
- Hook: Umm... Are you pretending to be a Rock Crab?
I am a Rock Crab...
So you can see me?- Hook: ...I'm too shocked to talk!
- Children: Too shocked to talk!
Why aren't any of you saying anything?
- Hook ...I'm too shocked to talk
- Children Too shocked to talk!
(Scare Hook)
- Hook: Ah!
- Hook: What are you doing, honorary member? You've scared me to death!
- Children: You've scared us to death!
Sorry, Pitch-Dark Hook the Great...
- Hook: If sorry does anything, why would I need Diggertron?
I won!
- Hook: What are you even talking about? You lost!
- Hook: Honorary member, if you don't know how to play hide-and-seek, just ask me! I won't laugh at you for it.
- Hook: But how you're acting now has me worried about your gameplay experience!
- Hook: Remember, the next time we play, ask me about the rules! I'll let you slide this time!
- Hook: Time to call it a day. Let's play again next time! The Moles, dismissed! Go home and get some sleep!
- Children: Go home and get some sleep!
Hide in the dumpster
Investigate- Since arriving in Belobog, you've felt as if there is an inexplicable connection between you and dumpsters. Now, at this critical moment during hide-and-seek, you find yourself staring at the dumpster.
- It's located in the plaza. It's low key and hidden. No one would expect someone to hide in here. All you need to do is hold your nose.
I'll hide here!
- You make a snap decision. You play to win, and no price is too high for victory!
- (Continues to next section)
Find another spot.
- (Trailblazer): (Maybe I should look for a better hiding spot...)
- (Exits dialogue)
- With that thought in mind, you hold your breath, close your eyes, and dive into the huge dumpster. You curl up in this dark space that smells of rust.
- It's not as smelly as you assumed. It's surprisingly comfortable. Is it because of the pillow and blanket? What are these doing in a dumpster anyway?
- Seems odd... Does that mean you've just barged into someone's home? No time to think about all that. You just heard Hook's loud announcement!
- Hook: Three... two... one...
- Hook: Ready or not, here I come!
- Cunning Child: Hey, boss. I think (he/
she) is inside! - A More Cunning Child: I heard (his/
her) voice! - Not-Very-Cunning Child: No one would try to hide in a dumpster...
- Hook: Heh heh. Let's see and find out!
- Hook: Hey, honorary member! Are you in there?
- Hook: ...
- Children: ...
(Remain silent)
Why aren't any of you saying anything?- Hook: ...Honorary member.
- Hook: You are so brave.
- Hook: This is where Old One-Eyed Ollie lives! You've gone and barged into someone's home!
- Children: Barged into someone's home!
I was wondering why it's so comfortable...
- Hook: ...I'm too shocked to talk!
- Children: Too shocked to talk!
Sorry...
- Hook: If sorry does anything, why would I need Diggertron?
- Children: Why?
- Hook: Thankfully, he's been away at... what was it... oh, the Robot Settlement. If he were here, he would have given you an earful!
- Hook: Remember, the next time you play, don't ever dive into a dumpster!
- Hook: Time to call it a day. Let's play again next time! The Moles, dismissed! Go home and get some sleep!
- Children: Go home and get some sleep!
Hide under the awning
Investigate- This is just an ordinary canvas awning. Judging from the stacks of crates, it might have been a stall with heavy foot traffic, but for some reason, it has been abandoned.
- This might be a good place to hide... a more traditional spot. You can hide behind the crates or under the table. Or, you might have something else in mind. It's all up to you.
I'll hide here!
- You make a snap decision. If everything goes well, this awning will act as a trusty shelter for the time being.
- But, like stated before, even a simple awning offers plenty of places to hide that you can afford to pick and choose. Well, what's going to be a better spot for you to hide?
- (Splits off into dialogue options below)
Maybe switch to another spot.
- (Trailblazer): (Maybe I should look for a better hiding spot...)
- (Exits dialogue)
Find another spot.
- (Trailblazer): (Maybe I should look for a better hiding spot...)
- (Exits dialogue)
Behind the crates.
- Not bad. Traditional yet effective. And so, you bend down and stealthily move in between the crates as dust flies everywhere...
- This pile of crates is really high! Unfortunately, it won't provide cover for your big frame. You really wish that you were the same size as Hook, but you'll never be able to go back to those carefree days.
- Better pray she doesn't find you! You can already hear her counting down loudly.
- Hook: Three... two... one...
- Hook: Ready or not, here I come!
- Hook: Oh, not too bad, honorary member! You hid yourself excellently!
- Children: Excellently!
- Hook: If it weren't for the fact that you are too big, I might not have spotted you!
- Children: Too big!
Hook is incredible!
- Hook: It's true. I think so, too!
I impressed myself!
- Hook: I should have expected as much from you! Unfortunately, I'm just a bit more amazing!
There'll come a day when you...
- Hook: Heh. Don't worry! When I get as big as you, I won't be playing hide-and-seek anymore!
- Hook: Time to call it a day. We all had fun playing with the honorary member!
- Hook: The Moles, dismissed! Go home and get some sleep!
- Children: Go home and get some sleep!
Below the table could work.
- Are you serious? There's nothing blocking someone from seeing you down there. You might as well stand out in the middle of the plaza!
- At least you won't get your clothes dirty.
Nothing can stop me!
- That's good. Rise to the challenge! You crouch down and try to get underneath the table...
- Uh-oh. This space is a little too narrow for you. Here's an apology on behalf of the table.
- Looks like you'll have to find another spot. What'll do the trick?
Maybe you're right...
- Nice. A tactical retreat. Where would be a better place to hide?
- (Returns to previous options)
I can pretend to be a merchant...
- Nice. That's some fresh thinking. So, you stand up and get behind the table...
- This table doesn't provide much in the way of cover. Actually, having the table won't even make much of a difference. The miners look at you with suspecting eyes as you stand frozen in place.
- To be fair, there's something off about how you're doing this... If you're pretending to be a merchant, you should have to hawk a bit — maybe act like you are selling something?
- Unfortunately, you don't have anything on hand to sell...
- Haha! This isn't going to end well.
Is there enough time to hide behind some crates?
- Of course there's enough time! You crouch down and stealthily move in between the crates as dust flies everywhere...
- (Choose to hide behind the crates)
I could do some busking!
- Busking? What... Wait! Don't shout that!
- Sadly, it's too late... The words rattling in your head got out and immediately attracted everyone's astonished gaze.
- Hey! You're the hero who saved the Underworld!
- You hadn't expected things to go this way... You were just hoping to take an unconventional approach in hide-and-seek. Now your attempt has turned into a sensational "Meet the Hero" event in Boulder Town!
- One hour, two hours... You had no idea there were so many people who lived in the Underworld! They paid in credit and came up to shake your hand, either due to being grateful, respectful, or just there to join the excitement. They viewed it as a rare opportunity and continually patted your hand...
- The commotion finally wore down by the fourth hour of this "Meet the Hero" event.
- The crowd has dissipated. You take stock of your two hands. These invincible hands have held on to the baseball bat and fought so many battles, but now they look like they've been carefully polished to shine... They might be even shinier than the Geomarrow in the Great Mine.
- What about The Moles' game of hide-and-seek? You don't really care at this point — those kids just shook your hand too!
- Out of the kindness of your heart, you opt to not take their money. Friendship is priceless after all!
Fail to hide in time
- Hook: Three... two... one...
- You can hear Hook's excited voice from afar off, but you haven't chosen a suitable place to hide yet!
- You feel afraid. You are frozen in place. What's going to happen now? You can't help but think about it. Sweat runs down your back as you get excited... This exhilaration must be the joy of hide-and-seek.
- Hook: Ready or not, here I come!
- Hook: ...
- Children: ...
(Remain Silent)
- Hook: ...Honorary member.
- Hook: Umm... Are you pretending to be a Rock Crab?
I am a Rock Crab...
So you can see me?- Hook: ...I'm too shocked to talk!
- Children: Too shocked to talk!
Why aren't you saying anything?
- Hook: ...I'm too shocked to talk!
- Children: Too shocked to talk!
