Conceptual Sacrificial Rite

This was my first time attending a sacrificial ceremony on Planet Devor. Hundreds of thousands sat in circles around a pitch black abyss, around which the atmosphere was solemn and reverent. "Embodiments of concepts" were sealed in black boxes and carried to the edge amidst the flickering glow of LEDs.
Sorrow, bonfires, herbs, an eight-eyed beast, a single phoneme... One concept after another was cast into the abyss, vanishing from Planet Devor forever. No one knows whether their disappearance was a voluntary act of the people, or if they were erased by some transcendent power the moment they plunged into the darkness.
The priest meticulously climbed the altar and pushed the offerings into the bottomless darkness, while onlookers remained silent. Yet a question surfaced in my mind: what would happen if I were to jump down from here?
