Congyan was a Master Artisan in the Artisanship Commission aboard the Xianzhou Luofu.^[1]

After High Elder Yubie sealed the Ambrosial Arbor's roots in Scalegorge Waterscape, Congyan admonished him. The result was Congyan being reprimanded and demoted. He was then forced by the Preceptors at the time to sculpt a statue of Yubie in his honor.^[1]

When Congyan was over 400 years old, he craved his regrets in a pillar found in Scalegorge Waterscape.^[1]
