Dialogue

(First interaction)
Cornflower: Oh, hello there. Sorry about that. Didn't mean for you to catch an old lady muttering to herself.
Cornflower: I'm something of a film producer myself. If you're into movies, we've got plenty to talk about.
Icon Dialogue Arrow A film producer?
Cornflower: Well, you could say I'm in charge of getting films off the ground. Crunching the numbers, projecting revenue, hunting down potential investors, scouting scripts, directors, talent... you name it.
Icon Dialogue Arrow Movies? Now you're speaking my language! I'm wide awake.
Cornflower: A fellow film enthusiast! Great to meet you.
Icon Dialogue Exit Let's talk about it later.
Cornflower: Okay, okay. I'll leave you to it.
Cornflower: Then again, more and more things these days are going to extremes. Marketing keeps prioritizing style over substance. Maybe an old-timer like me just has taste that's out of step with the times, heh.
Cornflower: If you want to have a chat with a relic of the old world like me, you are more than welcome to.

(Subsequent interactions)
Cornflower: If you want to have a chat with a relic of the old world like me, you are more than welcome to.
Icon Dialogue Talk Let's talk movies.
Cornflower: Sure! I've got tons of creative ideas I'd love to share, but the market just isn't really feeling my style right now.
Icon Dialogue Talk What makes a good movie?
Cornflower: Hmm, good question. "Good movies" can cover all sorts of themes, but if there's one thing they all have in common...
Cornflower: It's probably their ability to move people and make them introspect.
Cornflower: A great movie stirs something deep within you and the more you revisit it, the more that raw emotion transforms into something quieter, something like reflection. It leaves its mark on the soul... or something along those lines.
Cornflower: So, movies made purely to serve as glorified advertisements, those that are designed to lure you in and cash out at the box office before disappearing, unless they carry within them some built-in rebellion against that very commercialism...
Cornflower: They just won't cut it as a "good movie" in my book.
Icon Dialogue Talk What counts as "going to extremes"?
Cornflower: Let me give you an example. A man courts a woman and offers her a bouquet of flowers. Reasonable, but hardly the kind of thing that turns heads.
Cornflower: What if the gentleman threatened to jump off a building? He'd certainly draw massive attention, though his courtship would be doomed to fail all the same.
Cornflower: That's the pros and cons of "going to extremes." You can gain a humongous amount of attention in a short time, but the very way you claim that attention is, itself, pretty toxic to the actual content.
Icon Dialogue Talk Do you have any signature works?
Cornflower: I once made a trilogy about people living in reality and people living in the dreamscape, how they each struggle on their own, yet still find ways to lean on one another.
Cornflower: One side: a world shaped by natural evolution. The other: a world designed by something divine. One is mired in a crisis of nihilism, while the other struggles after having their freedom stolen by divine hands.
Cornflower: But even a naturally evolved world must still play by the rules of physics, and the gods who designed it are far from all-powerful. So their lives end up bleeding into each other, experiences fill in each other's gaps, and what starts as a misunderstanding can blossom into deeper friendship.
Cornflower: It's like what would happen if someone playing a video game could actually talk to the characters inside it.
Icon Dialogue Talk How are the job prospects treating you?
Cornflower: Not great. I've spent the last few years remaking my old work. At least they have a guaranteed fanbase, which makes it a lot easier to convince investors to fund the projects.
Cornflower: Thank goodness I'm on a lifetime employment contract... Otherwise, with the IPC's commission rates, I'd probably make more money just calling it quits and living off my pension.
Cornflower: They say we live in a restless era... yet I believe things are far more complex than that. Restlessness is merely a symptom on the surface. The true root cause lies in...
Cornflower: The people of this era are so spiritually impoverished that they've barely got any sense of aesthetics to speak of.
Icon Dialogue Exit Let's catch up another time.
Cornflower: Sure, let's catch up next time!
