Flowers Don't Need Gear-Shaped Petals
Last updated 2026-07-25
Flowers Don't Need Gear-Shaped Petals is a Quality Time Trust Invite for Norma Hollowell at Booastrum District.
Steps
- Meet Norma at Emerald Central Park
Dialogue
- You meet up with Norma in Central Park
- (Talk to Norma)
- Norma: Central Park's packed with people and Bangboo as usual today...
- Norma: Hard to tell if people come to the park for fresh air or to swap CO2 with each other.
- Norma: Just kidding. This is Roscaelifer, after all. No air purification system is more efficient than the high-altitude air currents here.
The air up here on the floating island really is fresh.
It's a great spot to kick back and unwind.- Norma: Follow those steps up ahead and we'll hit the Sunken Courtyard in the center. Let's go.
- (While following Norma)
- Norma: The park's always packed with people and Bangboo...
- Norma: Bangboo King Chess? Wanna go a round next time?
- (Upon arriving at Transcription missing)
- Norma: Let's take a breather here.
- (Talk to Norma)
- Norma: We're here, this is Booastrum's famous Central Park.
- Norma: If I remember right, there doesn't seem to be a park like this around your neighborhood, (WiseWise /
BelleBelle), does there?
The streets of Janus Quarter are packed tight.
I mean, land here's worth its weight in gold...- Norma: It's not a very large park, but I think it still fits Veli's idea of being "elegant."
- Norma: (So, what do you think, Wise? This is one of Booastrum's iconic sights. So, what do you think, Wise? This is one of Booastrum's iconic sights. /
What do you think of Booastrum's iconic landmark, Belle? What do you think of Booastrum's iconic landmark, Belle?)
It's a great view.
You can feel the design behind it.- Norma: If Roscaelifer ever fully opened up to the surface world, this place would probably end up a "must-see destination" on every travel app, right?
- Norma: From the buildings to the greenery, from the sculptures to the fountains, every bit of Central Park's landscape was carefully designed.
It's got that unique island in the sky style.
Looks pretty different from what's on the surface.- Norma: The surface, huh...
- Norma: The surface cities may be surrounded by Hollows, with land in extremely short supply, but at least some of the old natural scenery has survived.
- Norma: Fly up above New Eridu, and mountains and forests stretch out below...
- Norma: But Roscaelifer, being an artificial floating city, rarely gets views like this.
- Norma: Booastrum used to be an industrial city of nothing but steel and concrete. Places like Central Park were built later on to boost greenery in residential areas and improve living conditions for residents.
- Norma: But at the end of the day, it's pretty much a fully man-made city. From the plants to the infrastructure, there's a strong sense of deliberate design everywhere.
That's already pretty impressive.
Miracles always come with a price.- Norma: So I guess that's one major difference between Roscaelifer and the surface.
- Norma: Fruit raised in perfectly cultivated soil is bound to grow up following the rules, right?
- Norma: I couldn't care less about the council members being stuck in their old ways, but even the researchers are playing it too safe now, afraid to challenge the old ways...
- Norma: Lady Sunbringer originally wanted Roscaelifer to be a free paradise, a place that could broaden the horizons of civilization... but whether this miracle truly turned out as she wished is another question.
You never play by the rules.
- Significant Trust increase with Norma Hollowell
- Norma: That's right! I'll never be able to play by the rules!
I can totally get where you're coming from.
- Transcription missing
- Norma: No great invention was ever born from playing it safe — not the Bangboo, not Roscaelifer itself!
This statue's pretty unconventional too.
Including the statue in the center?- Norma: ...
- Norma: I guess rebellion doesn't always create something good, huh.
- Norma: But allowing a statue that breaks the mold to stand at the city's heart — maybe that's the Roscaelifer spirit right there.
- Norma: I mean, even a control freak like me can't expect every single Bangboo to meet my standards.
- Norma: Only gears built to exact specifications can keep a great machine running.
- Norma: But that doesn't mean everything and everyone has to serve as a cog in the machine.
- Norma: Flowers don't need to be shaped like gears... Though of course, I'm neither a flower nor a gear.
- Norma: I'm the one and only Norma!
- (Idle in free roam)
- Norma: Rebellion can lead to some pretty scary consequences...
