Description

After the meteor shower, it was no longer the peaceful city it once was. The appearance of evil monsters with unknown purposes plunged humanity into a great crisis. At this same time, the sworn enemy of the monsters, the Starlight Knights appeared!
This popular special effects show reached an 11.8% rating for its finale. Its initial target audience group was children, but the excellent monster designs and cool lines led to a large number of young fans.

Trivia

• Starlight Knight is a reference to 2 Japanese Tokusatsu (Japanese: 特撮) franchises, the Kamen Rider (Japanese: 仮面ライダー) series and the Super Sentai (Japanese: スーパー戦隊) series, which are adapted into the Saban's Masked Rider and Power Rangers series in America.
  • The commercial for Starlight Knight:ORIGINS that plays on the TV during the menu features a woman saying "Starlight Knight... Transformation!" as the words "Starlight Knight Henshin" flash on the screen, a reference to "Rider... Henshin!", what Kamen Rider Ichigo says when he transforms, which the word Henshin (Japanese: 変身) later became a convention for all kamen riders when transforming.
  • The "Knight Kick" featured in the commercial for Starlight Knight:ORIGINS that plays on the TV during the menu is a reference to the signature Rider Kicks that Kamen Riders do.
  • The villain featured in the commercial for Starlight Knight:ORIGINS that plays on the TV during the menu might be a reference to Kamen Rider Evol Black Hole Form, due to the words flashing behind him saying "BLACK HOLE", his ability to seemingly generate black holes like Evol, and the matching color scheme.
  • The transformation device that the Starlight Knights uses looks and functions like the Gridman's Acceptor from the show Hyper Agent GRIDMAN (Japanese: 電光超人グリッドマン) and its spiritual anime series in the same universe, GRIDMAN UNIVERSE.
  • The artwork for "Shining Promise in the Sky of Dawn" features 4 Starlight Knights, a Red one, a Yellow one, a Green one, and a White one looming over the rest. This is most likely a reference to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger, with the Red Starlight Knight referencing Mighty Morphin Red Ranger/TyrannoRanger, the Yellow Starlight Knight referencing Mighty Morphin Yellow Ranger/TigerRanger, and the Green and White Starlight Knights referencing Mighty Morphin Green Ranger/DragonRanger and Mighty Morphin White Ranger/KibaRanger (from Gosei Sentai Dairanger).
