Mail/Fortune Slips... (2026-06-27)

Recently, the shrine's fortune slips have been running low, so I was about to prepare another batch of "Great Fortune" slips.

Just as I was getting started, Ei arrived and said she wished to see me draw one for herself. Oh, my dear god...

Surely she cannot still suspect me of a little foul play, even after a full day has passed?

Fortunately, the slip I drew read "Good Fortune." A most convenient result, wouldn't you say?

I can guess what was weighing on her mind. Ei thinks far too much, and allows herself to accept far too little. When luck smiles upon you, you ought simply to be pleased and take it. Life is much easier that way, after all. That is precisely why I, her familiar, draw only "Good Fortune" and still be the happier of the two.

She was silent for quite some time, then said she wished for more tea. Very well. If there is one thing we are never short of, it is tea.
