Man Chai (Cantonese: 文仔 Man4 Jai2) is Gaming's suanni companion.
In combat, Man Chai assists Gaming when called upon by the latter's Elemental Burst, Suanni's Gilded Dance.

Appearance
Man Chai is a red suanni, with red ears, dark paws, and white and green whiskers, with a flame-like body.
Story
Gaming ventured to Mt. Lingmeng to answer his question of what exactly a Suanni looks like, who had borrow a few old texts from Xingqiu about the solitary Suanni that's hidden in the mountains. Hoping to answer his question for inspiration on his Wushou Dance performances, he went to the location in the borrowed books and sensed an oppressive aura sneakily watching him from the bushes.[1]
On the next day before dawn, Gaming made himself presentable, and brought his favorite beast head and a large sum of food offerings into the mountains. A dark shadow swooped about him as a strong gust suddenly blew by, looping around him in circles. Gaming closed his eyes with his hands clapped together, stating his intent loudly and reverently.[1]
"O Great Suanni, Gaming greets you! I came here simply to witness your majesty... and I brought lots of good food for your enjoyment, too! Now, ah, if you don't mind, could I open my eyes?"[1]
Gaming slowly re-opened his eyes after hearing no more movement, witnessing the juxtaposing appearance of the little and adorable Suanni that greeted him, sitting proudly upon a giant stone. Gaming overstepped in excitement and displeased the energetic Suanni, and jumped all around him with fury until he grew dizzy. Gaming would then unconsciously duel the Suanni by wearing his beast head, imitating the Suanni's movements from daylight till dusk.[1]
Finally, the Suanni seemed to acknowledge Gaming as it shook its head about and popped out a stone from its mane. Gaming carefully approached what he thought was a Vision and realized its legitimacy; a chunk of ore that had only shone under the glare of the setting sun. Although the young man had misunderstood and thought it was a shame, it was the moment where the "Mighty Mythical Beasts" troupe was formally founded, and Gaming and Man Chai became inseparable, to which he quickly forgot about the whole Vision affair.[1]

- Lingyuan is well aware of Man Chai's choosing to be with Gaming.
- Suanni is a lion-like creature from ancient Chinese mythology. It is revered as the fifth son among the "Nine Sons of the Dragon."
Etymology
- Man Chai's name is composed of the character 文 man4, "gentle; refined" and the Cantonese diminutive suffix 仔 jai2.
- In the English localization, Gaming states that the name means "well-behaved."[2]
