Wanjiru
Last updated 2026-01-30
Wanjiru was a historical figure from the Collective of Plenty in Natlan, and was one of the six warriors who joined forces with Tenoch in a war against the Abyss, alongside her Tatankasaurus companion Kayeke.[5] She makes her first appearance in the form of a spiritual projection in the Archon Quest Despair Engulfs the Heavens in Chapter V: Act IV - The Rainbow Destined to Burn.
Wanjiru bore the Ancient Name UWZ ("UWZ," Uwezo), which has since been inherited in the present-day by Iansan. Although it is unclear if Wanjiru possessed a vision, she was shown to have the ability to control the Electro element.[6]
Profile
Wanjiru is noted to be "the great runner".[7] She met Mavuika at some point before the Huitztlan warrior was confirmed to be the next Pyro Archon. They were good friends and would regularly wrestle each other. Mavuika would always win, but in their last match before she was invested with the archon's power, Wanjiru managed to come out on top. She joked about potentially having to seek out a time slot in Mavuika's anticipated busy schedule just to have a future wrestling match.
Wanjiru appears to have been close with her fellow heroes, mourning Burkina and Sanhaj's deaths with a toast alongside the four remaining heroes and remarking that their deaths were a "rallying cry in our hearts." She also shows sympathy for Mavuika's heavy decision to give her life to the Sacred Flame and reappear 500 years into the future, consoling Tupac that Mavuika needed time alone to process her emotions.[6]
Wanjiru has been shown wielding a bludgeoning weapon in battle, and has been known to wield the sword Sturdy Bone.
Wanjiru, Menilek, and Sundjatta perished in their final battle against the Abyss, while Tupac clung to his life long enough to bring Mavuika to the Sacred Flame before succumbing to his wounds.[6]
