Weasel Thief

Weasel Thieves, colloquially referred to as Mora Weasels, are a type of creature that appear randomly across the world.

Behavior

Weasel Thieves are initially impervious to damage. Once they spot the player, they will run away, eventually burrowing into the ground, dropping Mora: 500 (Amateur), 750 (Hoarder), or 1000 (Golden). If the player does nothing else, the same Weasel Thief can be farmed every day.

If the player chooses to interact with its burrow, the Weasel Thief will pop out and flee again, dropping a stream of 1 Mora coins as it escapes. This time, the Weasel Thief can be damaged by players or environmental damage. If it incurs damage, it will be killed, dropping an additional 500, 750, or 1000 Mora. However, a killed Weasel Thief will not respawn.

The Weasel Thieves encountered during the World Quest The Raven's Legacy in Series East of the Moon, West of the Sun exhibit different behavior, offering the player keys, digging up Explosive Barrels, and even unlocking Chests.

Trivia

• The fact that they do not drop Raw Meat may imply that the character only removes their purse when attacking them, leaving the critter to escape.
• The Weasel Thieves were named by Brahe. To commemorate their service to him in bringing a large number of Iron Coins to Reed Miller's Great Treasure, he gave them the name and declared them to be "Official Treasure Hoarders."^[1]
