A child. New life, like Endora. A child's mission is to grow. To grow? I thought it was to see the world.

Love. For Oceanids, this is to meld together as one. There will be no division then. That is why Oceanids need no learning or thoughts of their own. All that is needed is love.

It seems that Oceanids cannot love others, for others will only drown in the embrace of pure waters. So they disguise themselves as the dreams of young children, and withdraw from the lives of all other people.

Every day, a child takes a stumbling step forward. Every day, a stream flows into the sea.

Love, that is our destiny. But I still have a whole world left to see.

(After completing the area): Endora:: The spring's message is... a poem.; Endora:: But... Endora... doesn't understand it.

Area II: Wavering Waterweeds

(Approach the hilichurl camp): Paimon:: Are those hilichurls...; Paimon:: Trying to boil water to drink?
(After completing the area): Endora:: The aquatic plants of Dihua Marsh nestle in the embrace of water. But I cannot understand their hearts.; Paimon:: Do plants even have thoughts?

Area III: Edge of the Horizon

(Approach the Boar Hydro Mimic in the wind current): Paimon:: That Oceanid Creature's been sucked into the wind current!; Endora:: Why don't we try using a Swirl Reaction?; Paimon:: Is that how that works? You learn so fast, Endora!
(After completing the area): Endora:: Is this the great ocean? The place where all waters come to settle...; Endora:: And the end of all pure waters. Here, no one life, filled with joys and sorrows, shall be distinguishable from the next.

Area IV: Mesmerizing Lakeshore

(Approach Treasure Hoarders camp): Paimon:: What are those Treasure Hoarders doing?; Endora:: If we stuffed flour into Purewater Boars, would they turn into Batter Boars?; Paimon:: ...Now you're starting to sound like Lisa...
(After completing the area): Endora:: "With each small step a child takes, a journey through the world it makes."; Paimon:: Eh?

(After completing the area): Endora:: I've... come to understand the one who dwells in Springvale a little. Rhodeia, too.; Endora:: But... I have my own path.

Quest Description

The water source near the winery has become bitter for no apparent reason. The Adventurers' Guild hopes for your cooperation in resolving this matter.

(Talk to Katheryne after arriving in Mondstadt): Katheryne: Hello there, Traveler. How have things been?; Paimon: Has something strange happened again, Katheryne?; Katheryne: Compared to previous major incidents, this one is not the most peculiar. However, it is still quite serious, as it risks having a great impact on Mondstadt's economy.; What's the matter, then?; Mondstadt's economy?; Katheryne: Recently, the bodies of water near the winery have turned bitter without any warning. If this persists, Mondstadt's wine industry may be wiped out in just a few years.; Katheryne: For more details, please speak with Connor at the winery.

(Talk to Connor): Connor: Are you the people sent by the Adventurers' Guild?; Paimon: That's us!; Connor: Well, that's a relief. Now, as for the matter at hand — rather than listening to me explain it, you may as well experience it for yourselves.; Connor: This is a bottle of water that we drew just recently. It is hygienic, don't worry — we've put it through its purification paces. Have a taste and see.; Paimon: Oh, oh, Paimon wants some too, Paimon wants a try!; (Let's take a sip...); Paimon: Ugh! Blergh! It's so bitter...; Connor: This bitterness cannot be removed via conventional purification processes, so it's not an issue of the water's composition. I suspect it must be some mysterious elemental phenomenon.; Connor: As such, this water can't be used to make wine at all.; Paimon: That must've been tough for the nearby fish as well, right?; Connor: We tried cooking some of the fish killed by the bitter water. All the food we made turned out bitter, too.; Paimon: Paimon... hadn't quite thought that far.; Connor: Anyway, that's the situation. If you're looking for somewhere to start, my gut tells me you should investigate northward. Additionally, I wonder if Liyue's Bishui River or the waters of Qingce Village have been affected...

(Talk to Connor again): Connor: There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the water from Dragonspine or Springvale. The problem probably stems from Liyue.

(Upon arriving at the location): Paimon: These Hydro Slimes are behaving a bit oddly, aren't they? Well, guess that's what you do when you're a bouncing, flouncing, bitter pudding.; Paimon: Actually, that makes them super duper scary, doesn't it?

(After defeating the slimes): Paimon: Look, there was something inside it...; Strange Life-Form: Endora... no water... dying...; Paimon: Endora... Is that your name?; Endora: Bitterness... an enemy. It will kill... Endora.; Paimon: Well, um, so what can we do to save you?; Endora: Need... sweet water. Must go to... spring.; Endora: Endora... need water to move. No water. Nowhere to go.; Paimon: How are we going to get this thing to a spring?; Well, we've got a bottle right here.; Paimon: But it's bitter, isn't it?; Endora: Endora... can endure. But... not for long.; Paimon: Guess we can't afford to hang around, then. Let's get to a fresh spring, and quick!; Paimon: Still, it's kinda interesting how Endora was able to make it this far off the back of a Hydro Slime. Kinda like our relationship, huh?
(Obtain Special Bottle)

(Upon arriving at Springvale): Endora: Water here... sweet. Endora finds... same species.; Endora: Endora and... same species, make the water sweet. Bitterness... Rhodeia's doing.; Paimon: Same species? Oh, that's right, doesn't Springvale have a legend of a spring fairy or something?; Paimon: But first things first, let's get rid of the bitter water from our bottle and refill it from the spring.
(Obtain Inquisitive Endora)

(After getting close to the spring): Old Finch: ...Who are you?; Paimon: Whoa, hang on a moment, Endora, you can't just run out by yourself like that!; Endora: I am Endora. I am a Lochfolk.; Paimon: Wait, that's right! This guy is supposed to be one of the real believers in the spring fairy's existence.; Old Finch: ...Mm-hmm.; Old Finch: You're the spitting image of her. Just a fair bit smaller.; Endora: Endora... still small! Endora... still learning.; Old Finch: Well, your appearance proves to me that she was real. It wasn't just a dream.; Endora: She is still here. Name... unknown. She will not answer Endora.; Endora: Endora... wants to talk to her. Can take a message. What do you want to say?; Old Finch: You're saying she's been here all this time? And you can give her a message for me?; Endora: Yes. Yes.; Old Finch: ...Hmm.; Old Finch: I'm so old now, I...; Old Finch: ...Tell her I said hello.

(Talk to Old Finch again): Old Finch: She is real, after all. But why does she no longer speak?

(Talk to Endora): Endora: ...; Endora: She said some... strange things. Endora does not understand.; Endora: The stream... hmm... I did not understand. Asked, received no reply.; Perhaps your vocabulary could use a little more breadth.; Paimon: Guess the spring fairy must have her reasons for not wanting to meet us.; Endora: I do not... understand. Lochfolk like to join together.; Endora: She is... one mind. All alone.; Paimon: Maybe it's because other creatures can't fit in with you.; Endora: Oh? Why not?; Paimon: Well, we'd drown for starters!; Endora: You are lonely... We love all... We love all people.; Endora: Ah!; Paimon: Eh? What's going on?; Endora: Rhodeia's gaze... near the Stone Gate! Small water animals. Her scouts.; Paimon: Water animals? We saw some Oceanid Creatures 'round here here once, didn't we?; Yes, I think so.; Really? I don't remember.; Endora: Powerful water... changes shape into animals. Very dangerous. But joining with them... we learn new things.; Endora: Take me there. Rhodeia is uneasy. Rhodeia... makes water bitter. Endora will learn to speak. Explain to her.; So you're saying that you can help us, then?; Endora: Yes. Yes.; Paimon: Well, (‍Traveler‍), it's worth a shot. We don't have any other clues, anyway.

(Upon arriving at the location): Paimon: Look! Oceanid Creatures!; Endora: They... carry messages. Learn... by joining with them.

(Upon noticing a Boar Hydro Mimic constantly being Frozen by a Mist Flower): Paimon: Haha... they look so silly.; Endora: This would happen to Endora too... Mist Flowers... strongest in Teyvat.

(Upon noticing a few Oceanid Creatures under the bridge): Paimon: Huh, you can find them under the bridge, too.; Paimon: Hehehe, a few little ducks went out one day, under the bridge and far away...

(After getting the progress bar to 100%): Endora: The spring's message is... a poem.; Endora: But... Endora doesn't understand it...

(Talk to Endora): Endora: I have found something!; Paimon: Whoa, you're speaking fluently all of a sudden!; Endora: My grasp of language has expanded from merging with those Oceanid Creatures. I can now comprehend the message from Springvale.; Endora: "The stream of life flows on." It's a little melancholic. A short but enigmatic poem. I don't understand it.; Maybe you'll figure it out in the future.; Endora: Endora still has much to learn.; Endora: Rhodeia has been going wild lately. I must face her, and perhaps we can solve the problem that way.

Life Flows On (II)

Quest Description

After having helped Endora for this period of time, you are finally ready to cut to the heart of this problem.

(Talk to Endora): Endora: I have reached an understanding with Rhodeia.; Endora: She is the most renowned of us Lochfolk scouts, and also the strongest. But she fled Fontaine, harboring a longing for the previous Hydro Archon.; Endora: I can no longer return to Fontaine myself, so let me tell you everything.; Endora: We Lochfolk once spread far and wide to rivers, streams, and ponds all over the continent, and we largely served as Fontaine's spies.; Paimon: Spies!? What's the Hydro Archon planning?; Endora: The previous Archon had no plan to speak of. She merely wished to connect everyone in the world, in much the same way as all water is connected. But with her passing, many of us have cut off ties with Fontaine.; Endora: Like Rhodeia, the strongest of our number, they did not recognize the new Hydro Archon and desired only to keep the dreams of yesteryear alive. All Rhodeia wants is a small haven of tranquil waters.; Endora: But she sensed my presence and believed me to be an assassin from Fontaine, and so she stretched forth her enmity, which turned the water bitter, in order to slay me.; Paimon: But you were so small and weak when we first met. Did she really have to put in that much effort?; Endora: The dominant mind of the Lochfolk can be very easily shattered if we come into contact with another smaller but wicked mind.; Endora: I admired Rhodeia a great deal, and so I piggybacked off a Hydro Slime and left Fontaine, jumping from water body to water body until I finally ended up here.; Endora: I doubt that any other Lochfolk would have shared my level of determination — unless, of course, they were an assassin on a mission.; Paimon: When you put it like that, it makes you sound pretty awesome...; Paimon: Still, you can't beat Paimon, who's piggybacking on (‍Traveler‍)'s journey all over the seven nations and doing just fine so far!; Oh, come off it, Paimon.; Endora: I have explained everything to her. The bitterness in the water should dissipate soon. She even asked if I wanted to join together with the waters of Qingce.; Paimon: So are you here to say goodbye?; Endora: I still have one message to deliver. Please, accompany me to Springvale once more.

(Talk to Old Finch): Endora: Finch, Finch!; Old Finch: Oh! You scared me...; Paimon: Paimon's not surprised that you're surprised. Endora learns lightning quick, after all.; Old Finch: No, it's just that... The way you called my name, it sounded just like her...; Paimon: Oh...; Endora: "With each small step a child takes, a journey through the world it makes. Drops of knowledge this creates, each one the child assimilates."; Old Finch: "Day by day, a child will age. Drop by drop, a life is made."; Old Finch: I know this poem.; Endora: Our lives and yours are very different. As such, we may never understand each other, even for so long as we may live.; Endora: But our lives are also the same. We all flow towards the ocean, experiencing new things and encountering new opportunities along the way.; Endora: Thus, she says this: "When the stars in the night sky have all gone out, and all streams and dreams have mingled in the same great ocean... Then, we will meet again."; Old Finch: ...I see.; Endora: Life flows on, so please, begin to move again. Do not stand still.; Old Finch: Haha, that's her, alright. Still treating me like a kid, I see.; Old Finch: Alright then. I'd like a quiet moment to myself, if you would.; Paimon: Well, (‍Traveler‍), guess we should head back and report to Connor, too.

(Talk to Old Finch again): Old Finch: Life flows on...

(Talk to Connor): Connor: Oh, you're here.; Connor: I'm guessing that since it was you on the case, everything's been resolved and that's the end of it?; Naturally.; There were some twists and turns...; Paimon: The bitter water should be back to normal in a couple o' days.; Connor: I see, I see. It makes sense — even if you've removed the cause of the problem, it will still take some time for the water to cleanse itself.; Connor: Well, I suppose I should inform the Adventurers' Guild that this case has been closed.

(Talk to Connor again): Connor: You know, we did have a last-resort solution, which was to use the water of Springvale to make wine. I'm sure Draff would have agreed — goodness knows what he'd do without wine, after all.

(Approach the marked location)

Endora: Our kind expresses love by merging water bodies together. This way, many minds can coexist without division.

Endora: But understanding other life-forms in this world is not quite so simple. So we observe, study, imitate, and manifest in the form of animals. You could also say that their forms have become a part of us.

Paimon: Seems like watching the river flow away has caused some deep thoughts to well up in Endora, huh.

Endora: I've never considered how I should live my life after this point. I always assumed that I would merge with Rhodeia, and that this would be good and right.

Endora: But Rhodeia seemed unhappy. She, too, understands that she is only waiting for pure waters to become corrupted.

So, what's your choice?

Endora: Neither Rhodeia nor the one who dwells in Springvale wanted me to follow their paths. But surely they must have hated their lives in Fontaine still more.

Paimon: You guys are fascinating. Paimon's not sure what to say in this situation... But it's probably best to live in a way that makes you happy!

Endora: I've decided to embark on a path that no others before me have. Journeying with you has been a joyful experience, and I wish for all my future days to be just as joyful.

Endora: I wish to travel with you. Before this tiny stream of life flows into the ocean, I wish to see everything from the flowers that bloom on its banks to the clouds that sit on the horizon.
