HOMU Family

HOMU Family is a group of rabbit-shaped creatures acting as mascots of Honkai Impact 3 and other miHoYo games. It started with a yellow fellow named HOMU and has been randomly expanding since.

Note: Not all members have their names known, with the community-chosen default name being also HOMU.

Development

The HOMU family first entered the Honkaiverse in Guns Girl Z, a de-facto prequel to Honkai Impact 3rd, with the introduction of that game's version of Bronya Zaychik. Bronya would be holding a yellow rabbit plush named HOMU, with no more information about it provided.

Initially unassuming, the rabbit's lore would be expanded in many updates that followed. Among these updates, it was revealed that HOMU is a mascot of a worldwide entertainment franchise that features other, similar to HOMU, characters.

With release of Honkai Impact 3rd, as the two games were initially supposed to be in the same world, some of the family members ended up being transplanted into the game. While their numbers are ever-increasing in Guns Girl Z, Honkai Impact 3rd has seemingly capped their numbers. The mascots nonetheless bear similar role as icons for a multi-media franchise everyone loves, with Bronya still largely adoring HOMU the most.

In later miHoYo games, the HOMU family wouldn't be given the same presence. That said, they still have made cameo appearances.

• In Genshin Impact, players can find the Unusual Hilichurl who will sometimes toss a HOMU plush at them.
• In Tears of Themis, during the Dreams of Childhood Event, the player can visit HoYoLand theme park filled with HOMUs. Additionally, Artem Wing is shown holding a HOMU doll in his "Heart Listener" card with HOMEI and HOLA being visible in the background.

HOMU's Oath

HOMU family members released later on often bore striking semblance to playable characters of GGZ. This was at least partially influenced by an in-game outfit with a HOMU head accessory called HOMU's Oath (Chinese: 吼姆的誓言) tied to GGZ Merchandise campaign. Player participating in the campaign would be sent a card to redeem the outfit and every sale counted towards campaign's sales goals. Once the last goal was reached, the HOMU on top of the character would change into one that matched them.

As new characters were added post-campaign, that still applied. The resulting mascot designs were often a closer match aesthetically than the earlier members.

HOMU

HOMU is the most commonly seen member of the family, both in-universe and on game ads. With a striking yellow color and distinct sharp teeth, he's everyone's favorite.

HOMEI

HOMEI is a pink rabbit with a light red ribbon adorning her ear. With a cute personality to match her looks, she's the second most common member of the family.

HOLA

HOLA is a hot-tempered member of the family. His teeth similar to HOMU, he distinguishes himself with red coat and ears that look like they're on fire. He's often seen with explosives, so watch out!

HOMI

HOMI is a rarely-seen member of the family. She wears a blue headband with a golden bell on her head. Her teeth and tail are most unique of the bunch, as they more closely resemble a rabbit's. Though, she's still quite magical with her main color being a white-pink gradient. Her eyes are noticeably red.

HOLI

HOLI is a blue rabbit with a dark blue spot around its left eye.

HOWO

HOWO is a dark purple rabbit with an unique tail, angel wings, and halo. Rarely seen these days.

HOTARO

HOTARO is a purple rabbit with an eyepatch covering his right eye. Seemingly retired; he hasn't made an appearance in years.

Themed character: Houraiji Kyuusyou (character exclusive to Guns Girl Z).

Story

In the manga, Theresa Apocalypse is shown to read the comics of "The Adventure of HOMU" in the office, before destroying the evidence of her slacking on the clock as Murata Himeko comes in.

The helmet that Bronya made for Kiana Kaslana to enter the Schicksal Database is the shape of Hori.^{[citation needed]}
