Capote
Last updated 2025-03-19
Capote is an NPC aboard the Herta Space Station, located in the Storage Zone, across from the Special Purpose Lab (Second Floor) Space Anchor. He permanently moves to the back room of the Special Purpose Lab, upon completion of the Adventure Mission Spirit Traces.
Profile
Capote is a researcher in Herta Space Station's Department of Ecology. He is treated as a celebrity by many researchers on the space station, who believe that Capote cares about their troubles and cherish the responses he sends to their fan letters. In reality, the letters are written by his mistreated secretary, Lamina.
Following the events of Adventure Mission Spirit Traces, most of Capote's fan club has abandoned him after Lamina revealed that she was the one responding to the fan letters, thus exposing Capote's insincerity. He wishes to redeem himself for his past insincerity and treatment of Lamina, although he still bears some resentment towards the members of his fan club who lost their respect for him.

Dialogue
- (First interaction)
- Capote: Whether they are enemies from the abyss or people with ill intentions...
- Capote: So long as I'm in the space station, I will never let them ravage the territory of Madam Herta!
- Capote: If they are to trample on this pure land of science, they'll have to go through me first!
What are you doing here?
- Capote: Oh! Here's another lost soul. Don't worry. I'll show you the way.
- Capote: My name is Capote. I'm a member of the Department of Ecology, but my other identity is even more important!
- Capote: I am a die-hard fan of Madam Herta!
- Capote: I'm here to make my humble contributions to this space station, as well as to Madam Herta.
- Capote: Though I cannot fight against these horrors and lay out a road to revival...
- Capote: But with my words, I will guide all those who are lost and in a panic like yourself.
How can you help me?
- Capote: Help? Right, you do look like you need some help.
- Capote: I can see anxiety in your eyes. This emotion originates from fear. I can understand it.
- Capote: And I will clear the uncertainty in your heart. This is the least I can do for Madam Herta.
- Capote: Come! Confess it all to me! Tell me all your frustrations and pain, and let me soothe them for you!
- Capote: *cough* Of course, this is just psychological help. If you feel any real discomfort, please seek out a medical doctor.

I've got something to ask you.
How many people have had their pain "soothed" by you?
- Capote: I'm not someone who likes to reap benefits for myself, and I hope you understand that.
- Capote: But since you asked, I will answer — After all, my life's duty is to dispel others' confusion!
- Capote: Do you see the burning gazes of the fans around us? Those passionate looks of rapture are the best evidence of having had their pains soothed!
- Capote: They no longer have their eyes clouded and now see the stars, and that is how they are able to passionately look at me... I mean, at truth and reality!
The way you move seems deliberately designed...
- Capote: I understand what you mean. Many people have told me the same thing.
- Capote: People always get attracted by my body language and my eyes. I find it really frustrating.
- Capote: No matter how hard I try to refrain myself and avoid causing trouble for others, it never works.
- Capote: Maybe it's just a part of me that's beyond my control.
What do you think about this invasion?
- Capote: A disaster! An absolute, complete disaster!
- Capote: I know that everyone on the space station is concerned these days and all hold different views regarding the invasion.
- Capote: However, I only see the horrified faces of my fans. Though roses moist with tears would hold a special scent, it would be apocalyptic for such thick and sweet aromas to turn sour with sorrow.
- Capote: Therefore, I need to remain steadfast in my duty, and become their guiding light!
I don't have any other questions
- Capote: If you still hold confusion in your heart, please come find me anytime. Of course, you may also write to me. I like that kind of classical communication method.
- Capote: You can give your letter to Lamina and she will look after it. I look forward to seeing you again — or seeing your letters.

- (First interaction, upon completing Adventure Mission Spirit Traces)
- Capote: ...Hey, don't come up to people all quietly like that! You are going to scare people!
- Capote: Oh... It's you, (Trailblazer). Sorry, I thought those people are here...
You seem rather nervous.
- Capote: Oh, it's terrible. Do you remember what Lamina did? Now everyone on the space station spites me and ostracizes me! Even those who said they would never leave my fan club are taking the lead in opposing me!
- Capote: I'm in such a pitiable state because of them!
Who are those people you're talking about?
- Capote: The previous core members of the Master Capote Fan Club are now my biggest haters... You've heard about this, right? About how everyone views me after what happened with Lamina?
- Capote: You look to be a smart cookie. You won't be as much of a brute as them, right?

- Capote: Oh, it's you! Tell me how I can help you. I, Capote, will do anything for my friend!
I still need to talk to you about something.
- Capote: Fine fine. I'll take it to heart as long as it's not pointless criticism and slander.
You need to self-reflect more...
- Capote: Ahh, (Trailblazer), have I not reflected upon my actions since then? But who amongst those people would listen to me? For them, I am already an unrepentant sinner.
- Capote: I betrayed the fans' expectations and I agree I need to pay for that. However, once I showed any remorse on this matter, they got more angry and felt I was just making up lies again...
You need to apologize to Lamina...
- Capote: It's my personal business, but since you are hardly a stranger, I'll tell you something in secret.
- Capote: Of course I was angry at first. She could have discussed this with me! It became such a huge mess, and it was so hard to sort out my public image...
- Capote: However, I realized how ludicrous my ideas were after I thought long and hard on them. If I were the one getting endlessly oppressed, then I probably also won't have the courage to actively approach the other party for a conversation.
- Capote: When I realized Lamina's difficulties and her courage, I became more firmly convinced of one thing — I was a total jerk.
- Capote: Therefore, I told her all about my introspection. Lamina didn't accept my apology there and then, but I believe she must have felt my sincerity.
It's a bit hard to start over again.
- Capote: My goodness, you are the first to see things from my perspective. (Trailblazer), you are indeed my bosom friend! See, everyone else thinks I can't redeem myself even with death, let alone allow me to start over!
- Capote: Thankfully, my light is not completely devoid of light. After all, I still have you and those who really understand me.
- Capote: Though the Master Capote Fan Club had disbanded, a small numbers of fans stayed behind and formed a new club. With their support, I can definitely start all over again on the space station and let everyone feel my conviction!
I don't have anything else to say to you.
I don't have anything else to say to you.
- Capote: I feel a lot better after speaking to you. I used to always put up airs and talk big, but now that I can speak candidly with you, it's actually a rather rare experience.
- Capote: Thank you for listening to me. I am also always ready to listen whenever you need me.
