Glasses in the City

Last updated 2025-03-20

Glasses in the City is an Achievement in the category The Memories We Share.

To unlock this achievement, the player must matchmake crystal chalice with cheap wine.

Location

Dialogue

A gorgeous and exquisite crystal glass hovers in midair, surrounded by three different bottles of liquor.
Along with the jolly music nearby, the glass and bottles float and spin as though they were having a dance party of their own.
Yet, from the way they sway their bodies, you can still discern a hint of dissonance lurking beneath the surface of this magical scene...
The red wine bottle, despite its awkward movement, will inch closer to the crystal chalice tentatively every few seconds. However, the glass seems keenly aware of the red bottle's motive and will keep its distance cautiously with finesse.
The gold wine bottle is the best dancer. It appears to be very experienced in attending such occasions and is having a good time. It approaches the crystal chalice and then pulls away from time to time. Although the two do not speak, they seem to have formed some sort of rapport with each other.
The green wine bottle's moves are steady and restrained. Compared to the previous two, it behaves more like a... spectator. But in its occasional sway, you can sense the suppressed desire within. Perhaps, it has just grown accustomed to holding back its desires.
The realization dawns upon you — there is a love drama ongoing among the three underneath the peaceful facade.
Crystal Chalice: (Mister/Miss)! (Mister/Miss)!
A crisp voice rings in your head, each syllable resembling the clink when someone gently taps the rim of a tall wine glass with a small silver spoon.
Crystal Chalice: That's right, (Mister/Miss). You heard it right. I'm speaking to you.
Icon Dialogue Arrow What is it?
Crystal Chalice: I'm puzzled.
Icon Dialogue Arrow You seem pretty occupied.
Crystal Chalice: You're right — I'm in a dilemma...
Crystal Chalice: Look, I'm a high-end, custom-made crystal wine glass. The person who made me said that I should be used to hold only the most valuable and finest wine.
Crystal Chalice: But as you can see, there are three types of wine around me. I can sense their intention to get to know me and be my partner.
Crystal Chalice: Truth be told, (Mister/Miss), I have no idea what to do. As the saying goes, "The spectators see the game better than the players." I believe only a level-headed guest like you can offer me some sound advice.
Crystal Chalice: Which of them should I choose? Can you talk to each of the bottles and give me some suggestions?
Icon Dialogue Exit There's something else I need to attend to...
Crystal Chalice: I see... Guess I'll have to seek help from others.
Icon Dialogue Talk Why not just drink them all?
Crystal Chalice: ...That's out of the question! I don't want to become as cheap as those SoulGlad glasses...
The crystal chalice's tone is laden with contempt and disgust.
Icon Dialogue Arrow Sure. I'll help you.
Crystal Chalice: Really? That's wonderful! You're so kind and (dashing/enchanting), (Mister/Miss).
Crystal Chalice: The three of them are right there. Do you want to chat with them now?
You agree to help the crystal chalice to find her perfect match. Who should you start from?
Icon Dialogue Talk Talk to the red wine bottle.
You shift your gaze toward the awkward red wine bottle.
Icon Dialogue Arrow Why are you pursuing the crystal chalice?
Red Wine Bottle: ...Why? What sort of question is that, buddy?
Red Wine Bottle: Look at me. I'm a bottle of liquor! Isn't it the most natural thing for a bottle of liquor to desire a perfect wine glass that complements it?
Red Wine Bottle: I'm sure I won't find another glass as... beautiful as this one before me in the entire Penacony. It's all or nothing for me this time!
Icon Dialogue Arrow Tell me about yourself.
Red Wine Bottle: I'm surprised a guest like you would be interested in a wine bottle like me. This is unusual.
Red Wine Bottle: Fine, I'll tell you everything you want to know. My background is nothing extraordinary. I'm just a common red wine that you can find at any grocery store on the street.
Red Wine Bottle: I might be well-packaged, but in reality, those rich folks and drinkers wouldn't even spare me a second glance.
Red Wine Bottle: Tsk, they act as if they know a lot about wine! Can they even tell what they are actually drinking at those banquets they attend?
Red Wine Bottle: I refuse to accept my fate. I don't want to end up being bought on a whim by some homeless person and chucked away into a small, dark alley without even being finished! So, I've been working hard in search of a chance to make it big...
Red Wine Bottle: By winning the crystal chalice's heart, I'll be on my way to joining the upper class of society! I want everyone to see that even a cheap red wine can make it that far through sheer hard work!
Red Wine Bottle: ...I won't let the other two guys stand in my way! I'm ready to do whatever it takes to make this work...
Icon Dialogue Talk Talk to the gold wine bottle.
You shift your gaze toward the cheerful gold wine bottle.
Icon Dialogue Arrow Why are you pursuing the crystal chalice?
Gold Wine Bottle: ...Oh? Look who's here. It's a... (gentleman/lady) in gray, wearing a bizarre costume rarely seen in this town. I like your unique fashion sense.
Gold Wine Bottle: I'm sorry, my friend. I think you might have got the wrong idea... Oh, I mean about the "pursuing" part.
Gold Wine Bottle: I don't consider myself to be pursuing the crystal chalice. We're simply getting to know each other as equals. Why? It's because that beautiful crystal chalice has long been smitten with me.
Gold Wine Bottle: This isn't self-flattery, (Mister/Miss). It's a fact. I believe you can see it too, right?
Icon Dialogue Arrow Tell me about yourself.
Gold Wine Bottle: My background? Ah... Believe me, there's nothing to write home about. You won't be interested.
Gold Wine Bottle: I'm a bottle of golden champagne crafted by one of the top five winemakers in Penacony. The average Dreamchaser probably won't even get to touch my bottle in their lifetime.
Gold Wine Bottle: Right from my birth, I've had only one mission — to be poured into a perfect and well-made glass for the enjoyment of the wealthiest elites across the entire cosmos.
Gold Wine Bottle: That's why that crystal chalice is meant to be with me. We're a match made in heaven, given our missions.
Gold Wine Bottle: You can argue to the contrary all you want, perhaps saying that the story "isn't romantic enough," but it's the truth.
Gold Wine Bottle: If it turns me down and dates one of the other two guys, then their relationship is destined... to have a bad ending.
Gold Wine Bottle: Trust me, as I've seen too many stories like this. They all tend to end with the same scene — shards of broken glass are scattered everywhere, and cheap liquid that only attracts insects is spilled all over the floor.
Icon Dialogue Talk Talk to the green wine bottle.
You shift your gaze toward the earnest green wine bottle.
Icon Dialogue Arrow Why are you pursuing the crystal chalice?
Green Wine Bottle: No... I'm not pursuing the crystal glass. I'm merely protecting it. Yes, it's protection.
Green Wine Bottle: Please do not make wild speculations.
It seems to be a bottle of few words and is still trying hard to restrain its desires.
Icon Dialogue Arrow Tell me about yourself.
Green Wine Bottle: I... *sigh* Fine. I guess it's all right to tell you my story.
Green Wine Bottle: The crystal chalice might not remember it anymore, but the two of us were made by the same craftsman. Although we're different products, we were born around the same time.
Green Wine Bottle: This might sound embarrassing, but I haven't been able to get it out of my mind since the day I saw it.
Green Wine Bottle: I was later bought by a military officer and followed him to the battlefield for a long time. However, he didn't open me even to the day he was struck by a stray bullet. My friend, may he rest in peace.
Green Wine Bottle: By a twist of fate, I returned to Penacony and came across the crystal glass again. It no longer recognized me as we were separated for too long. Now, there's a huge gap between us in terms of our statuses. I'm not expecting anything in return from it.
Green Wine Bottle: Being just a bottle of rum, I'll never be able to offer it the prestige and recognition that it desires. I just want to protect it from being taken advantage of by other wines... That's it.
Icon Dialogue Arrow I know which wine the crystal chalice should choose now.
The crystal chalice clinks excitedly as it leans its rim toward you.
Crystal Chalice: How did it go, (Mister/Miss)? Who should I choose?
Icon Dialogue Arrow The red wine.
(Trailblazer): That bottle of red wine is ambitious and determined. I think it is a great match for you.
Icon Dialogue Arrow The golden champagne.
(Trailblazer): That bottle of golden champagne shares a similar background and mission with you. You should choose it.
Icon Dialogue Arrow The green rum.
(Trailblazer): That bottle of rum is willing to protect you for nothing in return. It should be able to give you happiness.
Crystal Chalice: I see...
Crystal Chalice: I've got it... I'll take your opinion into account before making my decision.
Crystal Chalice: I appreciate your help, (Mister/Miss). I'll keep you posted if there are any updates on my side.

(Mr./Ms.) (Trailblazer), are you there?
I just wanted to let you know that, thanks to your suggestion, I am now dating the red wine bottle.
If you get some time, please feel free to come and visit us in Aideen park.
Icon Dialogue Question Listen
Red Wine Bottle: ...So, which banquet should we attend next? Which esteemed guest should I offer a taste of my wine?
Red Wine Bottle: Oh, right! Doesn't the Iris Family often throw celebratory banquets for artists? Shall we make an appearance there?
Red Wine Bottle: No, I think we should aim higher... How about we go to the Charmony Festival? I heard that all the famous figures from the universe would be there. It's definitely going to be grand!
Crystal Chalice: ...
Crystal Chalice: You've been rambling on about irrelevant stuff since earlier... What about me? Don't you have anything to say to me?
Red Wine Bottle: ...Um, are you upset? Don't you love attending those occasions?
Crystal Chalice: ...
Crystal Chalice: ...Forget it. I don't want to talk to you anymore...
The atmosphere is getting awkward... You'd better take off discreetly and pretend you have never been there.

Icon Dialogue Question Listen
Crystal Chalice: Honey, which fruit slices do you think go best with me?
Gold Wine Bottle: The lemon slices from Moment of Scorchsand, of course. Not only does it go well with the design of your glass, but it also matches with the color of my liquor.
Crystal Chalice: You're so knowledgeable... I've never been to Moment of Scorchsand. How about you take me there next time?
Gold Wine Bottle: Sure. But you have to understand that the place is totally different from Golden Hour. The Dreamchasers there are more... unruly, and they enjoy drinking spirits of inferior quality.
Crystal Chalice: Hmm... That's off-putting. I don't want to reek of the smell of cheap liquor...
Gold Wine Bottle: Haha... no sweat. The Charmony Festival is around the corner. I'll introduce the finest liquors from other galaxies to you there...
Crystal Chalice: ...Wow, really? I can't wait, darling!
You can hardly chip in on their conversation... You'd better make your exit tactfully and pretend you have never been there.

Green Wine Bottle: ...
Crystal Chalice: ...
Green Wine Bottle: ...
Crystal Chalice: ...Don't you... have anything to say?
Green Wine Bottle: ...I—I'm not sure... what to say...
Green Wine Bottle: I, um... I'm not used to attending this kind of... occasion.
Crystal Chalice: Occasion? What occasion... isn't this just a common open-air party in Penacony?
Crystal Chalice: Sigh...
Green Wine Bottle: ...P—Please don't get upset. I... I'll try my best to blend in. Please give me some time...
Crystal Chalice: ...Alright. I shouldn't be rushing you.
Crystal Chalice: But I hope it won't take you too long... I don't want the other glasses to start gossiping about me, saying that I'm with a dull bottle every day.
Green Wine Bottle: No, I'm not dull at all! I promise I'll get better starting from the next second...
You notice the rim of the crystal chalice is slightly tilted. Following the angle of inclination, you catch sight of several bottles of premium red wine on a table in the distance.
...That's not a positive sign. Perhaps, it's time for you to go and pretend you have never been there.

(If the player did not choose the red wine)
Icon Dialogue Question Investigate
The bottle of red wine lies on the floor, its body full of cracks. Most of the liquid has flowed out, staining the cracks between the tiles and outlining the scene of a tragic accident.
No one knows or cares what has happened here. The bottle of red wine aspired to escape a life of mediocrity. For that goal, it made substantial efforts and probably even resorted to dirty tricks... Yet, none of those matters now.
If it could live its life over again, would it have made the same choices? Would it accept its mediocrity and resign to being a bottle of red wine enjoyed by a modest family? That's an answer you'll never find out.

(If the player did not choose the golden champagne)
Icon Dialogue Question Investigate
When you approach the gold wine bottle, the shopkeeper shoots you a glare.
Focused Employee: ...This bottle of golden champagne is for display only. Please kindly maintain a distance and refrain from touching the bottle.
Seems like the champagne wasn't boasting earlier... It really has a hefty price tag, and ordinary people aren't even permitted to touch it even in the Dreamscape.
Gold Wine Bottle: Oh, it's you...
The gold wine bottle's voice suddenly rings in your head. It still sounds as nonchalant and condescending as usual.
Gold Wine Bottle: It's a shame that the crystal chalice didn't choose me, but c'est la vie, right? Sometimes, things just don't turn out the way you want them to. It's pretty normal.
Gold Wine Bottle: This exhibition is so annoying, I have to be still as a statue the entire time... When is the next group dating session? Hopefully, I'll meet another glass that is as beautiful — or even better, twice as beautiful — as the crystal glass.
For some reason, you feel an urge to smash it into pieces.

(If the player did not choose the green rum)
Icon Dialogue Question Investigate
The bottle of green rum stands on the ground with other vessels strewn around it haphazardly. You have no clue what has taken place.
Green Wine Bottle: I can't allow you to take advantage of it... None of you...
Its thick, rich voice rings in your head again. The bottle of rum seems to be suppressing its emotions with great effort.
Green Wine Bottle: I'll get rid of... everything that might harm it...
Green Wine Bottle: I'll have its back and protect it... until... the very last...
You recall a rather inelegant popular saying: A simp always ends up with nothing. You don't want to make any comments about the rum's action. In a sense, it's an expression of great love.
You'd better leave the place before the rum sees you as a threat.
