Kraken
Last updated 2026-06-05
Kraken is an NPC on Planarcadia, located in Duomension City. He serves as the primary character of Adventure Mission Bring Its Eyes and is accompanied by the Trailblazer as they travel to mutliple worlds.[1]
Profile
Kraken is an imagenae that resembles a graffiti of octopus. He is the owner of the Kraken Art Restaurant, and has a fast food brand named the Roaring Tide Tavern in the Yum Yum Alley.[2]
History
Kraken initially claims to be the legendary "Deep Sea Devil," born from humanity's fear of the ocean and once a mighty sea demon who ruled the seas. He asks the Trailblazer to take him back to see the oceans he supposedly conquered, but later confesses that much of this was a lie, he has never actually seen a real ocean and has always been imprisoned by his own fear of it. In truth, Kraken was created from that fear in Planarcadia's distant past, but as time passed and those legends faded, so did the Wishpower that sustained his demonic identity. Forced to survive off the foot traffic of his small shop, his source of Wishpower gradually shifted from fear to mundane things like customer satisfaction and store popularity.
Though he hasn't lost his power, it has fundamentally changed him, altering his personality, memories, and even abilities. Having spent all his accumulated Wishpower to send his "eyes" beyond Planarcadia and travel for the first time, Kraken reveals his true reason for wanting to see the ocean: he feels that he may soon disappear, or become someone entirely different. Before that change overtakes him, he wishes to witness the real ocean at least once.[1]

Dialogue
- (After completing Adventure Mission Bring Its Eyes in the chapter Arcadia Panorama)
- (First interaction)
- Kraken: Welcome to Kraken's Tavern! Right this way, please.
- Kraken: Wait a minute... that outfit is so familiar. I'm sure I've seen it somewhere... Ah, yes. How could I possibly forget?
What else do you remember?
Why don't you tell me who you think I am?- Kraken: Hahaha, you flatter me, my dear guest. Is there anyone in Planarcadia who doesn't know of the great Baseball Raccoon? I'm the one at fault for not recognizing you at a glance. My mistake, truly!
- Kraken: Have a taste of the seafood I caught myself. It's the star dish of Duomension City, and it's been topping the must-try lists for decades. I guarantee you it's delicious!
But aren't you a great sea monster yourself?
I'm not so sure about entering a shop run by a monster.- Kraken: Hahaha, do you see these magnificent tentacles? They were born to summon the tides, and they're second to none when it comes to food.
- Kraken: But it's actually a bit embarrassing that I don't actually know how to command the tides. Every time I go to the sea, only one thought comes to my mind... and that is to bring back the absolute best ingredients for my customers.
- Kraken: Maybe I don't deserve to be called a sea monster at all, eh? But that's okay. I'll dedicate myself to the art of cooking and strive to become the most popular shopkeeper in Duomension City!
Nothing wrong with a monster starting a new career as a shopkeeper.
You don't have to feel bad about it.- Kraken: Sometimes, my guests will talk about my past, speculating that I was once the great and fearsome sea monster who ruled the cosmic seas. The rumors brought in more business, and I took the opportunity to win them over with my cooking.
- Kraken: Speaking of which, haha... if you're interested, my dear guest, why not try our signature seafood set?
- Kraken welcomes you with all the passion they have for their work, but their cordial words no longer hold any trace of their former unruly arrogance.
- You gaze into that pair of eyes. They once carried a certain sea monster's fear of and longing for the ocean, but now all that shines through is the confidence and excitement of a shopkeeper showing off their culinary art.
I'll have the signature combo!- Kraken: Coming right up! And I'll bet my entire career as a shopkeeper that it will be a delight for your taste buds!
- (Subsequent interactions)
- Kraken: Welcome to Kraken's Tavern! We offer unlimited fresh seafood daily, caught and served on demand. I guarantee it'll be to your liking!
- Kraken: Whoa! It's the one and only Baseball Raccoon! What an honor! What are you in the mood for today?
Let's have a game of Cosmicon Collective!
- (Open menu)
I want to chat with you...
- Kraken: No problem at all. I've heard a lot in my time, especially the news from all over Planarcadia that my customers bring in. Whatever you want to talk about, I'm happy to oblige!
So, how did you become the shop's owner?
- Kraken: Honestly, I can't recall much from before I started running this tavern. All I remember is a vague impression of a difficult life, full of hardship and poverty.
- Kraken: I may look like a ferocious sea monster, but if that were true, how could I have been so short on Wishpower? I should've been able to whip up a storm and grab everyone's attention easily, hahaha.
- Kraken: All I can remember is being starved and freezing, collapsing by the Dovebrook, soon to fade from existence.
- Kraken: Luckily, a passing ploo rescued me and brought me to this tavern, asking if I wanted to work here.
- Kraken: The ploo was the shop's owner at the time, and the name of the tavrn was, in fact, "Kraken."
A new life, starting from the bottom.
- Kraken: Exactly. To commemorate this new beginning, I took the shop's name as my new name.
- Kraken: As it happens, more and more customers were drawn to the shop after I started working here. I suppose a tavern named "Kraken" with a sea monster on staff really lives up to its name.
I'm surprised you get any business with a name like that...
- Kraken: As it happens, more and more customers were drawn to the shop after I started working here. I suppose a tavern named "Kraken" with a sea monster on staff really lives up to its name!
- Kraken: That's also why, to commemorate this new life, I took the shop's name as my new name.
- Kraken: However, right when business was really picking up, the ploo left without any goodbyes, leaving just a letter behind. It said it was tired of running the tavern and was leaving to pursue its dream of becoming a comedy star.
- Kraken: So I took over the responsibilities of running the place and became the shopkeeper everyone's familiar with now.
- Kraken: The tavern life is busy but fulfilling. I've poured my entire being into this work. It's hard to say if it's a part of me, or... if I'm just a part of it.
- Kraken: No matter what, it's my dream to make "Kraken" the most beloved tavern in Planarcadia.
What's the secret to running a tavern?
- Kraken: Are you thinking of joining my business as a franchisee? What an honor!
- Kraken: But I'll be honest, the secret is simple to explain my extremely hard to execute. If it weren't, I wouldn't be here at the shop every single day, handling everything myself.
- Kraken: It all comes down to two things, use the best ingredients, and make the best possible dishes.
Tell me more about the best ingredients.
- Kraken: The preparation for raw fish slices doesn't start when the fish hits the cutting board. It starts from the moment that fish is born in the sea.
- Kraken: The simpler the cooking method, the more you need outstanding ingredents. That's the real essence of cooking: not the transformation of something, but presenting it at its best.
- Kraken: Thanks to my sea monster nature, I'm extremely picky about seafood quality. The tavern faced a shortage for a while, because ordering raw fish meant it wouldd inevitably get damaged and lose its freshness in transit.
- Kraken: So, I had to start diving deep into the ocean every day to catch the absolute best ingredients myself. There's no special trick to it, just a whole lot of passion and a reverent heart for cooking.
Tell me more about meal prep.
- Kraken: Well, at first, I could only clumsily copy the owner's fish-processing technique, like I was doing some kind of repetitive manual labor.
- Kraken: I'm not sure if it was just good marketing, but the "Sea Monster Combo" became a huge hit. With all that praise and aboration, my cooking skills improved dramatically, and eventually I even earned the honored moniker of Hands of God.
But you don't have any... hands.
- Kraken: Hahaha, that's just an expression. I have plenty of ways to handle ingredients, don't you worry.
A master chef of sea monster!
- Kraken: Wishpower is a curious thing, isn't it? If you can gather enough of it, anyone can make something of themselves.
- Kraken: When I finish a dish and see it radiant light, I know it has reached the peak form its ingredients could possibly achieve. You could say I get the first taste of happiness and satisfaction, long before it's served.
Oh, I get it now.- Kraken: Good. I'm glad if my story was helpful to you.
- Kraken: At the end of the day, you can't go wrong if you do what you love with passion and respect.
Do you still want to see the ocean beyond the sky?
- Kraken: Beyond... the sky? I do, but... a dream like that is completely out of reach for me. This body would probably dissipate soon after leaving the area illuminated by the Phantasmoon.
I can just bring your eyes with me.- Kraken: Thank you. But if that day ever comes, I hope it is not my eyes you take with you...
- Kraken: ...but my stomach instead.
Your stomach?
So you have a huge appetite.- Kraken: It would be a waste to go on such a rare trip and only look around. Besides, I can't taste flavors that way, hahaha.
- Kraken: If it were possible, I'd want to hold the oceans of other worlds in my belly and bring all the finest seafood in the galaxies back to Planarcadia. This way, the people of Duomension City could taste delicious ingredients from across the cosmos without ever leaving town.
- Kraken: Still, the Wishpower required to contain the entire cosmos would be, well, astronomical.
- Kraken: So, let's just call it a dream and leave it at that. For us imagenae, leaving Planarcadia for the world beyond the sky is still something far beyond our reach.
That's all I wanted to ask.
- Kraken: Very well. If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to come find me.
I think I'll have the signature combo!
- Kraken: You got it! Just a moment, please. One signature combo, coming right up!
- (It's been forever since I last sang and danced while eating... Both my stomach and heart are full.)
- (Obtain the overworld buff That Hit the Spot - Increases all allies' Ultimate DMG by 10% for the next battle.)
I have other matters to take care of.
- Kraken: Very well. If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to come find me.
Trivia
- Kraken is based on the legendary sea monster of enormous size known by the same name.
