Serpent Slithering

No one knows why destiny adorned a formless being with a mask. No one knows what face it bore when it still possessed sentience. It moves through the city's underbelly on instinct alone, through sewers, through shadows cast by alleyways, through fragments of paintings. Until one day, it has silently devoured too much flesh and blood, and hunger drives it from its nest.
They rush laughing toward the hundred-eyed, hundred-legged serpent, embracing it, sleeping alongside it. And so, they too become part of the hundred eyes and hundred legs, causing the thoughts of all who meet its gaze to collapse, dissolving into mirages of raw, ravenous desire. The human-faced serpent slithers through the streets, coiling before you. Some memory etched deep within your genes seems to stir... but none of it matters anymore.
