Shiratori (Japanese: 白鳥 Shiratori) is an NPC on The Xianzhou Luofu. He can be found in The Shackling Prison, in a hidden chamber in the wall of Floor B2, the Transitory Hold floor.

Reaching Shiratori requires the player to use a nearby Cycrane to access a lower level switch to adjust the pathways and grant access to the chamber in which Shiratori is located.

Profile

Shiratori is a prisoner in The Shackling Prison possessing the body of a Cycrane. Although the Cycrane is not his true body, he has inhabited it for so long that he does not remember where his real body is anymore.

Shiratori has a fixation on jailbreaking, and was imprisoned in The Shackling Prison for repeatedly breaking out after being imprisoned for a minor crime. He sees his confinement in the Shackling Prison as an opportunity to hone his abilities, and did not participate in Hoolay's escape due to considering such an opportunity unearned.

Shiratori is also the logistics officer for the Arma Correctional Group and delivers other prisoners' orders from the Group.

Shiratori: I have a premonition: Today is going to be the day I escape!

Shiratori: You've come at the perfect time, (boy/girl)! I am about to be the first person to ever escape The Shackling Prison using my skills alone. You must be my witness to this great moment!

I'm going to witness history?

Shiratori: If only we had a video camera, then I could record it and make it into a film called: Shiratori's Redemption! I just know it would go viral.

Don't waste your energy.

Shiratori: You're just like those narrow-minded prisoners, brushing me off and being sarcastic. Just you wait. I have been preparing for this for countless days and nights. Nothing can go wrong.

Just give up. The place is surrounded by aurumaton soldiers.

Shiratori: You don't believe that those bolt-brains could ever compete with my great mind, do you? Those aurumatons are simple and dim-witted. I figured out their patrol routes a long time ago!

Shiratori begins to flap his wings and...

Shiratori: Waaaa... I thought I had taken care of every problem! Where could I have gone wrong?

Shiratori: Ahaha... Interesting! The Shackling Prison truly is fascinating. This is what a real prison should be like. It makes all those other prisons I've served time in look like open-air markets!

Shiratori: I have already ascertained where the problem was. I just need to slightly amend my approach... First I do this, then this, then this... I know I'll make it next time!

Shiratori: Why would I not be okay? I've never been better! Just knowing that I am in the process of cracking the most complex prison in the entire cosmos fills my whole body with fighting spirit!

Does no one care that you're so obviously trying to escape?

Shiratori: Those prison guards have seen everything. Sometimes I suspect they're deliberately leaving me to my own devices.

Shiratori: I'm not like those dangerous criminals who are always trying to destroy stuff to escape. I prefer to use my skills. My wings may make a lot of noise when I flap them, but they can't cause any real damage.

What if it's a trap set by the Ten-Lords Commission?

Shiratori: I don't care if it's a trap. I'm happy as long as I have some mechanisms or puzzles to crack. I have to hand it to the Ten-Lords Commission, though. They really leave me scratching my head every time.

Shiratori: I'm a little tired now though. I'll get some rest before trying again.

Shiratori: By the way, (boy/girl), I haven't seen you around before. You fresh round here? Getting put into The Shackling Prison at such a young age... That's some impressive work.

I'm here for business. There are some things I wanted to ask you...

Shiratori: Well, I've got nothing else to do. We may as well chat for a while.

What did you do to get locked up in here?

Shiratori: Ah... I don't really, uhhh, remember. But I'm not a robber or a thief, so it can't have been anything serious.

Shiratori: But I just can't sit still. It was when they locked me up that I started misbehaving. At first, they had me locked up in the Realm-Keeping Commission penitentiary, but I was bored to tears, so I had to escape.

Shiratori: Obviously, that got me arrested for jailbreaking, so they got a prison with tighter security for me. But that place was just as boring. I couldn't help but escape again.

Shiratori: That's how my criminal record just started to snowball, and it kept snowballing until I found myself in The Shackling Prison. If I actually do manage to make it out of here, I don't think they'll have anywhere else that can hold me.

You seem to enjoy breaking out of prison?

Shiratori: Well, everyone needs hobbies and interests. Some go in search of money, others like fine food, but I'm a little unique... I am addicted to breaking out of prisons.

Shiratori: The fun of solving a challenging problem, the excitement of escaping the guards, the joy of regaining your freedom... Ah! Is there anything more wonderful in this world than escaping from prison?

Shiratori: I have a saying: "Break out of jail once and you get a moment of joy, spend your life jailbreaking and you'll be happy forever!" I've actually become quite renowned for all my escapes. Some call be the "jailbreak master," and some are even begging to be my disciples.

Shiratori: Although, it is always said that: "A true master always maintains the heart of an apprentice." That is precisely why I have come to The Shackling Prison — to further my craft.

Why are you a cycrane...?

Shiratori: You wouldn't understand. Breaking out of prison is a dangerous game. It's best to find myself a substitute body. Plus, being able to fly allows me to see much further, which makes it easier to see gaps in security.

Shiratori: As for where I got this thing from... I imagine one of the prison guards chucked it out. Either way, when I found it, it was just a pile of scrap metal. I had to put a lot of work into fixing it.

Then where is your real body?

Shiratori: I've been possessing this cycrane for so long that I often start to believe that this is my actual body. I don't even remember where my real body is anymore.

Shiratori: But that's not important. I am happy with how I am at the moment. Going back to my real body now wouldn't bring me any joy.

Do the other prisoners not think it's weird that you look like this?

Shiratori: There's enough weird stuff going on in The Shackling Prison. A shapeshifter that can transform into other prisoners, a Jade Abacus that can think and talk... What I do is not a big deal at all in here.

Shiratori: Plus, I have another role — I'm the chief of logistics for the Arma Correctional Group. Prisoners have to rely on me to deliver whatever they bought from Arma.

Shiratori: Oh. You're new here, so you probably don't know about the Arma Correctional Group. It's fine. You'll come to understand that, in The Shackling Prison, there will always be times when you need the Group.

Do you have any jailbreaking tips you can share with me?

Shiratori: Honestly, I don't have any tricks or anything like that. The key is perseverance. Some convicts give up after just one or two attempts, but I can spend years researching how to break just a single lock.

Shiratori: Another thing is careful observation. Even the most tightly guarded prisons will have weak spots, but some of them are better hidden than others.

Shiratori: Take The Shackling Prison for example. Even though their security measures are so complicated they can drive a man insane, that borisin still managed to escape, no?

What are The Shackling Prison's weak spots?

Shiratori: Well, if I knew that, then I'd have escaped a long time ago, wouldn't I?

Shiratori: But, my many years of experience tell me that The Shackling Prison's greatest insurance is the surrounding moat. If only I had someone proficient in water magic with me, my escape would be a lot easier.

Were you here when the borisin escaped?

Shiratori: I was. I happened to be on a delivery that day, but I saw a group of borisin fighting their way out in the distance.

Shiratori: The entire place was in chaos. Lots of prisoners used it as their chance to escape. Hmph, what kind of hero tries to capitalize on an advantage like that? If you've got the skills, then you should rely on nothing but yourself!
