The name of this soundtrack is a reference to Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 8, nicknamed the "Symphony of a Thousand" due to the huge instrumental and vocal power required for the symphony.
- Part I of the symphony is based on the Christian hymn Veni Creator Spiritus (Latin: Veni Creator Spiritus "Come, Creator Spirit").
- The name of the previous soundtrack in the album (Infirma Nostri Corporis) also references this hymn.
