The Sorcerer's Tombstone

The Sorcerer's Tombstone is an Achievement in the category The Memories We Share.

To unlock this achievement, the player must:

Investigate the tombstone at the following location in Fyxestroll Garden
Pick "Wipe away the dust with your bare hands"
Talk to Yancui at Spices Supreme in Aurum Alley
Pick "(Ask Yancui for the secret behind Xianzhou Boxing)"

You notice some loons have done a bit of vandalism nearby, as evidenced by the thick dust gathered on the tombstone and scraps of paper nearby.

You carefully scrutinize the tombstone: Two holes have been poked through the dust to make it look like nostrils — or maybe eyes. As you and the tombstone look each other over, you decide:

Wipe away the dust with your bare hands.

With some effort, the inscription carved into the stone gradually appears. It talks of some boxing techniques you've never heard of, and this may just be a unique and hidden relic passed down from Xianzhou ancients.

You quickly go over this mysterious "boxing manual." Each move is detailed and easy to understand, making it great for beginners. You give several of them a try, putting together several powerful moves as you instantly understand their value.

You decide to commit everything on this tombstone to memory, and so you begin your careful study — but no matter what, you're unable to figure out what the final sentence means: "This requires high gluten flour."

This "high gluten flour" sounds like a food. Perhaps it's a nutritional supplement, or perhaps it's got a special meaning in boxing. Boxing... flour... Suddenly, a familiar figure pops into your mind:

Master Yancui at the Spices Supreme!

"People might know about your fighting prowess, but few know about your cooking skills. We should hold a Great Aurum Alley Cook Off Contest to show the world your talent." You cast your mind back to the Aurum Alley's Master Yancui and the many who've praised her skill.

Speaking of which, she should have a grasp of what the last line of this boxing manual meant.

My mind is completely blank.

Casting your mind back, you're trying recalling but your mind is completely blank. Like most people, an opportunity has fallen right into your lap that you're unable to capitalize on. Perhaps that's what they mean at the Divination Commission when they talk about "Fate."

Just as you're about to give up, you feel several gushes of warmth wash over you. Maybe this is a response to your noble sensibilities. You hear a faint ringing in your ears:

"Spices Supreme... in the Aurum Alley... it's beautiful... it's yum... and it's cheap..."

I'm tired and don't want to do a thing.

Forget it. This place is rarely visited, and hardly some magical sacred site. Seeing as the tombstone's owner never cared about how filthy it was, you're not changing anything either. Saves you from having to spook this eerie twilight silence.

But of course, you're the only one who knows the real reason: You don't want to get your hands dirty. After all, everyone on the Xianzhou knows that dirty hands are a terrible thing.

(Talk to Yancui): (Ask Yancui for the secret behind Xianzhou boxing); Yancui: You've come to the right place. I'm the top disciple for the Cloudbanner Meteor Fists. I've practiced the Forty-Eight Chambers of boxing since I was knee-high to a grasshopper.; Yancui: Unfortunately I've never heard of any boxing that needs "high gluten flour." I don't really get how this flour's used in training, unless it's used to train some obscure moves. That doesn't sound right...; Yancui: Why don't we do this? You gimme a demonstration of the move, and I'll take a look at what's going on.; (Demonstrate for her some of the boxing described on the tombstone); One-by-one, you perform moves from the unknown boxing school as etched onto the tombstone.; Yancui: This one forces the waist... and this move... unexpectedly hits the arm... but at this angle... this move actually seems kinda familiar...; Yancui: Oh! I got it. This is a method for kneading dough, not any kind of boxing school! Some customers have strong teeth and prefer chewy noodles. That has to use high gluten flour with careful kneading, otherwise you can't stretch out that chewy texture.; Yancui: Kneading noodle dough is a tiring task, and ingenium-knead doughs cannot compare to manual-knead doughs. Where you apply the force and how you knead — there's a technique and a knack behind everything. You have to focus on form, otherwise you'll either get lumpy dough or scattered flakes.; So it'd be a complete waste of time to learn it as a boxing skill...?; Yancui: That's not quite true. If you do good things with good intentions, you should be reciprocated. It's just that you're not a cook, so you've kinda dropped this clanger. There's no point in you learning this "boxing" technique — but there is for me.; Yancui: Here, (mister/miss), thank you for all your effort. I don't want to put you out, so I've prepared several specialty dishes for you.
