Grim Tiger is an NPC who first appeared during the Sword Seeker Chronicles story in the form of a memory generated by the Qingming Sword. She was a swordmaster of the tiger Thiren people who prevented her people from using the Tigerbane Bell.
Profile
Grim Tiger was a swordmaster of the tiger Thiren clan in life. She was strong and principled, and was willing to put everything on the line to protect her people's future.
History
Grim Tiger lived during a time before the Fall of the Old Capital. Due to increased Hollow activity, it was debated among the tiger Thirens on whether they should use make use of the Tigerbane Bell, which requires sacrificing another of their kind to strengthen another. Grim Tiger was vehemently against its usage, as were many others. She and her companions undertook a trial to prove that the tiger Thirens had strength enough on their own to survive without using the Bell.
Despite six failures and numerous injuries, she ultimately prevailed, and it was agreed that the bell should not be used. Despite this, the tiger Thirens would ultimately be wiped out when Hollow Zero's expansion caused a companion Hollow to consume their settlement. Grim Tiger protected children as they made their escape from the settlement, but ultimately died in the process. Though almost the entire tiger Thiren population was killed during this event, her work, as well as that of her fellow Thirens did allow a few of her kin to survive, one being Ju Fufu, who would adopt Grim Tiger's techniques and incorporate them with her Yunkui Summit training, naming the style "Tiger Seven Forms".
At some point in time, the memory of her life was preserved within the Qingming Sword, and it was experienced by the blade's newest wielder, Ye Shunguang, as well as Phaethon, after they entered the Qingming Realm. During this time, the pair saw Grim Tiger in the form of Ju Fufu, as the sword was recreating the events based on Shunguang's own perceptions.
