Letter from Xiao'Guang
Junior,
I hope this letter finds you well.
I never imagined so much would happen after I left the mountain... After I drew on the Qingming Sword's power, I had a dream. A long, long dream... Memories from the past surfaced one by one, warm, gentle moments drifting around me like fireflies.
I dreamed of something from when I was little... The day I saved an injured fledgling whose wing had been torn by a hawk while it tried to protect its friend. Before it returned to the sky, it plucked a soft, fluffy feather of its own and placed it in my palm. I think that was its way of saying thank you. In my dream, I reached out, trying to catch that feather. But it drifted higher and further, slipping away no matter how hard I tried. Then, in an instant, it turned into a floating lantern — the very same one I set upon the river when I first joined Yunkui Summit, with my wish written on its side in careful strokes. Back then, Shifu asked me what I had wished for. I told her that I hoped to be brave enough to protect the people I cherish, just like that little bird did. Shifu smiled at me gently and said nothing more. Her expression dimmed as she watched the lantern drift slowly into the river of lights...
I also dreamed of the day before my seclusion. My brother gave me a group photo of Yunkui Summit, along with a peace knot. He told me that as long as the photo was with me, it meant everyone was right beside me. And that the peace knot symbolized a safe reunion.
After he left, I would often hold up that peace knot, letting the breeze slip between my fingers and lift the threads of its tassel. I wonder when everyone from Yunkui Summit will get together again...
I dreamed of you, too! I never mentioned it, but honestly... the happiest part of leaving seclusion this time was getting to meet you. After we went to Yum Cha Sin, I kept tweaking the osmanthus cake recipe, adjusting the ingredients and the measurements, until I finally found a way to make it even better. I brought the recipe with me, along with a handwritten guide for new disciples, all prepared just for you. I was on my way to see you and then... I woke up.
After waking up, it's hard not to feel disappointed. All these little things from my past... they hold some of my most precious memories. If you hadn't found them for me, I probably would've forgotten them all by now~ Thankfully, you're there for me, just like always!
Anyway, just to be safe... could you hold onto them for me? I don't know why, but lately I've felt... unsettled, like something big might be coming. So I decided to write this letter and entrust you with these keepsakes. You're the one person I trust most here in Waifei, after all~
Thank you... for keeping these precious memories safe for me.
There's so much more I wish I could say, but I can't put it into words. Please take care of yourself, always.
