Dialogue
Pre-Commission
- (Upon fishing out a bottle)
- A piece of paper is inside the drift bottle. Let's see... Seems like a letter to someone.
- (If Drift Bottle No.1 was retrieved)
-
- Drift Bottle No.1
Dear Stranger,
By the time you read this, I'll probably already be gone. But if you can spare a moment, would you let me share a story no one else knows? I was diagnosed with a serious illness, one that stole the simple, everyday life I used to take for granted. I fought, I screamed, but no matter what I did, I couldn't change the reality — or my weak, lingering attachment to it.
From then on, my world shrank to the size of a hospital bed, and all that was left was a life slowly ticking away into emptiness... until she appeared and changed everything.

I'll never forget that day — the day fate's invisible thread led me to an angel. She was a nurse at the hospital, and every afternoon, she would sing to the sick children on the patch of grass beneath my window. I had never heard a voice so moving.
In those gray, lifeless days, it was music that reminded us of the passion we once had for living. Without realizing it, I was deeply touched by her, and I began to accept the harsh gift that fate had handed me. Perhaps my life, though fleeting, could be as beautiful as those short, fragile songs.
Sometimes, all it takes is a single spark to reignite the courage to keep going. Quietly, I made a promise to myself: before the true end arrives, I will hold on — I will keep going.

And so, I began doing small things to help her. Though, to call it "helping" might be too generous — it was really just my selfish way of trying to do something, anything, for her.
There were moments I wavered, tempted to confess my feelings to her. But I always held back. This selfish heart of mine had already taken enough — it would be wrong to go further, to burden her with the love of someone whose days were numbered. That would only leave her lonelier in the end.
And yet, death is still so terrifying. I tried to escape its shadow by losing myself in her songs, but it was always there, waiting. I know my time is running out. Still,I don't want to disappear without a trace. That's why I'm writing this, like King Midas's barber whispering his secret into the hollow of a tree.
Stranger, thank you for listening this far. This is my final secret, one I've shared with the universe — and now, with you. I hope that, somewhere among the distant stars, I can keep thinking of her.
Sincerely,
A Foolish Piece of Wood

- The note ends really abruptly. This seems to be a fragment of a letter.
- The bottom part of the letter has some strange embellishments. After taking a good look, these patterns are made up of dots and lines, like some kind of secret code. Is this a hidden message?
- (After fishing out all three bottles)
- Arrange the notes from the three bottles in order to form a complete letter.
- What do those strange patterns represent? Upon comparison, it seems the arrangement of dots and lines on each paper strip has subtle differences.
- Now that I've found all three bottles, I feel like I can piece some information together. Time to think hard.
Go to the vending machine beside the bus stop at Lumina Square
- (Interact with the Letter)
- There's something stuck between these two vending machines... it was tough to get it out, but it's a letter.
- (Open Mysterious Letter)
-
- Mysterious Letter
- Dear Stranger,
- Thank you for accompanying me on this treasure hunt and witnessing the final, insignificant love of my life.
- In the end, I am still selfish, hoping that my feelings can have some proof of their existence.
- Forgive my stubborness, and please help me fulfill this final wish.
- However, the choice is yours to make.
- Should this love of mine be revealed to her?
- The address of a hospital nearby is written at the end.
- I wonder if that nurse is still working there. Maybe I should send her a message.
Send a message.
- Yeah... She deserves to know how much she's loved.
- After careful deliberation, the message is sent out.
A reply comes after a short while. She says that it's complicated and wishes to speak in person. - As promised, you arrive at Port Elpis. The sea breeze blows gently, accompanied by the roaring tides.
- (Continue to "Head to Port Elpis")
Don't send a message.
- Maybe it's best not to disrupt her life. Let me be the sole witness to this love.
- This drift bottle and this bygone affection should be carried away by the waves. It can return to the sea at Port Elpis.
- The sea breeze blows gently at the port, accompanied by the roaring tides. The drift bottle is in your hands.
- (Continue to "Toss the bottle back into the sea at Port Elpis")
Head to Port Elpis
- (Talk to Faith and Woody [sic])
- Faith: Did you send this letter? Thank you for it... But I want to introduce someone to you. This is Woodie.
Woodie?
Isn't he...- Faith: Yes, he's the one who tossed those drift bottles into the sea. But I think there's been some misunderstandings...
- Woodie: This is so embarrassing. Anyway, let me explain. I'm Woodie, and I wrote that letter. Most of what has been written is true.
- Woodie: Back then, I was severely ill and devastated by my misfortune. However, I had misunderstood what the doctor said and thought that I was suffering from an incurable illness. That was why I wrote those notes.
- Woodie: I thought it would be a shame if everything ended so abruptly.
So, how are you now?- Woodie: Completely recovered! I was discharged soon after the operation. Life took an unexpected turn and I met Faith at a cafe that I often frequented. After that...
- Faith: We fell deeply in love and got married.
You got married?
You're married!- Faith: If this (young manyoung man /
young ladyyoung lady) hadn't contacted me, I wouldn't have known about this matter. So, you already fell in love with me before we even got to know each other... - Woodie: At that time, it was more like admiration than love. In my darkest hour, you were a glimmer of hope for me. You made me feel like life was still worth living.
- Woodie: When I was suffering from my illness, the thought of singing and love made my uncertain future more acceptable.
- Faith [sic]: I didn't think all my drift bottles would end up in the hands of the same person. Miracles are everywhere, even in an ordinary person's life...
Thank goodness for miracles.
Thank goodness for love.- Woodie: Sorry, (MisterMister /
MissMiss). I got you involved in all of this. Thank you for following the clues I set out and meeting me here. Thank you for listening to my story. - Faith: Thank you for bringing this miracle to us, and for bearing witness to our little love story.
May you be blessed with miracles in life!- (Regrets have their serenity, but happy reunions can also be so touching.)
- (Regardless, this has been resolved without a hitch. The couple should enjoy their time alone!)
Toss the bottle back into the sea at Port Elpis
- (Interact with the End of the Pier)
- Let's throw the bottle back into the sea.
- ???: Ah, this year's holiday has ended too quickly. Faith, I wonder when we'll enjoy such a long vacation again.
- Faith: Don't worry about our next vacation. Let's enjoy the moment. Woodie, I'm happy as long as we're together.
That's a familiar name.- Woodie: Huh? What's wrong, (MissMiss /
MisterMister) [sic]? You know us?
You are...- After handing them the drift bottle that you were about to toss into the sea, the man's cheeks flush red.
- Woodie: Wait... Isn't this?! So, you know about my secret...
Yeah.
I know everything.- Faith: Hmm? Woodie? What's this? A drift bottle... with a note inside? Is this yours?
This contains his hidden affection.- Faith: Oh? Let me see.
- Woodie: Aaaaah! STOP! I never expected anyone to actually pick it up! ...I thought I had a terminal illness, so I threw that letter into the sea to leave evidence of my own existence...
- Woodie: But I had merely misunderstood the doctor, and my illness wasn't incurable. It's all the doctor's fault for looking at my medical report and sighing so despondently...
So, you don't have an incurable disease?
So, you're cured now?- Woodie: Yes. And not long after I was discharged from the hospital, I got to know faith [sic] by chance. After that...
- Faith: We fell deeply in love and got married.
What?!
What?- Faith: (MisterMister /
MissMiss), I think I've figured this out now. My dear Woodie tossed drift bottles with his love letter to me into the sea. You picked it up, but the contents of the letter led you to think that he...
Exactly.
Bingo.- Faith: Woodie, you're so adorable. You even hid secret codes into the notes and split them up into different drift bottles...
- Woodie: Faith! Stop teasing me!
- Faith: I'm not teasing you! Woody, I think it's wonderful that you overcame your illness and came into my life so healthily.
- Faith: New Eridu truly is a place filled with miracles, and that includes meeting you and this (young manyoung man /
young ladyyoung lady)! These are all fate's doing. - Woodie: Faith... Yeah, it's wonderful.
- Woodie: Sorry, (MisterMister /
