The Night Horror is a mentioned NPC and a legendary figure to the Nightwatcher tribe.

The Night Horror is described as a "stunningly beautiful Ethereal" and "almost godlike" in appearance. However, it is currently unknown if the Night Horror is actually an Ethereal or not.
History
In the past, the Night Horror fought against the ancestors of the Nightwatchers in a battle that lasted several days. Though it ultimately fell, it used its power to place a curse upon the people. The Night Horror began haunting their dreams, such that, when they would fall asleep, the Ethereal would sometimes call to them, making them sleepwalk into Hollows, only regaining their wits at the moment before they succumb to corruption and transform into Ethereals themselves. This curse grew stronger the more people fell asleep, and so the afflicted people moved to the Outer Ring and began to live a nocturnal lifestyle, founding a tribe known as the "Nightwatchers" in the process. Over time, despite the fear they had of the Night Horror, the people also began to show it reverence.[1]
Despite the negative effects of this curse, it also had an apparent boon; Ethereals paid no mind to members of the Nightwatchers, and in more recent times, one among their number, Lucia Elowen, saw the Night Horror in her dreams, appearing with a small Hati. This same Hati then appeared in the Hollow and was incredibly friendly to her, and so she named it Chestnut. She believes it was a gift from the Night Horror, and following her parting with it, she began to question what the true nature of the Night Horror actually is.[2]
It is later implied that Chestnut had a connection to the Night Horror, possibly being created or controlled by it, or even being a direct extension of it. After Lucia parted ways with Chestnut, it is also implied that the Night Horror has reawakened and returned to observing the Nightwatchers from afar.[2]
