Spacebar was a member of the Diamond Division in the Defense Force. He was described as a very forgetful person by his mother and peers, to the point of earning the nickname of "Spacebar," though his real name remains unknown.

History

Spacebar had originally joined the Defense Force to infiltrate Hollows and to fight Ethereals, though being part of Diamond Division meant that he was relegated to handling city defense. He applied many times to transfer to the Obsidian Divison, which handled Hollow missions, though never got accepted.
One day, he was able to go on a joint mission with Obsidian Division, and witnessed their skills. He realized he could not match up to their combat-prowess, though the Obsidian captain, who recognized him from his transfer requests, motivated him to continue working hard no matter his position. The advice came in handy, as he successfully took down the enemy leader of some armed militants in a mission one day as he remembered to play his role to the fullest. On another mission, he went on a joint excursion with the Chrysoberyl Division, though he got himself into a precarious situation before Chrysoberyl's sniper saved him. Feeling homesick, he decided to take three days of leave to visit his mother, though a mission came up at the last second, preventing him from catching his bus. On his way back, he bumped into a group of weirdly dressed citizens muttering on about their resolute faith and "becoming refined" and overheard mention of "The Order."^{[Note 1]}

However, an unprecedented Hollow disaster soon happened, swallowing Eridu and leaving Spacebar trapped inside with no reinforcements, though he mentions seeing The Order roaming around. As he investigates, he finds evidence of recent human activity nearby, indicating that this disaster was not of natural causes. In the following days, he uses up all of his anti-corruption medicine, and begins to succumb to corruption.
Nonetheless, he left his laptop behind, which he had used as his personal diary, journaling his experiences from his first day in the Defense Force to his last. The laptop was later recovered by Nicole, who gave it to the Phaethon siblings in exchange for some debt. After decrypting the laptop with the help of Fairy, Nicole also hands them a mysterious number, which they then use to contact Spacebar's mother, informing her about the fate of her son.
