I just feel like I have zero tolerance for scary stuff... But hey, I haven't totally decided to watch it yet!
Anyway, can you help me find this movie? If possible, I'll drop by your place once you find it... I'll decide whether to watch it after I get the tape.
It's all set for you!

BelleBelle), about "The Port Peak"...
Got it right here.- Alice: Eek!! C-Could you keep that a bit further away? Just looking at the cover is giving me the creeps...
But didn't you want to borrow it?- Alice: Y-Yeah... that's right. About that...

"Ways to Dispel Fear"
Story Description: At Alice's request, (WiseWise / BelleBelle) joins her to watch the horror movie "The Port Peak." However, Alice seems a bit too scared... What would be the best way to help her find the courage to watch these horror movies?
- Alice: Um... How long is The Port Peak, exactly?
About 2 hours?- (ProtagonistProtagonist): (Hmm, I'd say about two hours? Belle's already made me watch it with her several times, so I'm pretty familiar by now.Hmm, I'd say about two hours? Belle's already made me watch it with her several times, so I'm pretty familiar by now. /
Lemme think... Around two hours! I really love this movie, I've dragged my brother to watch it with me a bunch of times!Lemme think... Around two hours! You seem pretty scared...

Maybe we shouldn't watch it?
- (ProtagonistProtagonist): (Maybe we shouldn't watch it? It's completely normal to be scared of horror movies — believe me, I totally get it.Maybe we shouldn't watch it? It's completely normal to be scared of horror movies — believe me, I totally get it. /

- Alice: No... I've always struggled with scary things, but I can't just keep avoiding them either. As the heir of the Thymefield family, I must learn to overcome this.
- Alice: I must face my fears head-on!
- Alice: But regardless... Do you happen to have a version of this film that comes with... like, scare warnings?
- Alice: I saw some videos online with prompts that would pop up a few seconds before the scary scenes so you can brace yourself... If possible, I'd prefer to watch one like that...
We don't have anything like that here...
That's all edited by bloggers.- (ProtagonistProtagonist): (Sorry, but I don't think we have anything like that here... Those are usually just fan edits on video sites, and they tend to cut a lot of scenes out.Sorry, but I don't think we have anything like that here... - Alice: In that case... (WiseWise /
BelleBelle), could you watch it with me? You've already seen it a few times, right? So you probably know where all the scary parts are... If you could give me a little heads-up a few seconds before the jump-scare scenes... - Alice: J—Just this once, okay? I know it takes time to get used to the scary scenes, but this is my first time watching something like this, so I'll need your help...
Alright...
- (ProtagonistProtagonist): (Honestly, I'm not great with horror either... but I've seen this one enough times to have built up some resistance. I'll warn you about the scary parts, don't worry.Honestly, I'm not great with horror either... but I've seen this one enough times to have built up some resistance. Sure!

- You and Alice head upstairs and start watching The Port Peak. A murder [sic] known as the Lumberjack begins picking off trapped characters in the mountain cabin, one by one...
Even though you already know every twist, the atmosphere still hits pretty hard. - At every scary moment, you whisper a warning to Alice. If you raise your voice even a little, she jolts like a startled animal.
Each time, she covers her ears and squeezes her eyes shut, only easing up when you gently tap her to let her know it's over. ...Seriously, can anyone really conquer fear like this?
(Warn her about the upcoming scary scene.)- (ProtagonistProtagonist): (Alice, ten seconds from now, the Lumberjack will jump out from behind the bed in the cabin... The face is super creepy. It lasts about five seconds.Alice, ten seconds from now, the Lumberjack will jump out from behind the bed in the cabin... The face is super creepy. It lasts about five seconds. /

One, two, three, four, five... is it over?
- Alice: I'll keep watching then— AHHHHHHH!!!
- Alice: Gyaaah—! You were supposed to warn me!
That wasn't even the scary part!- (ProtagonistProtagonist): (Huh? But that wasn't even scary... Even I didn't get spooked by that part, so it should've been okay.Huh? But that wasn't even scary... Even I didn't get spooked by that part, so it should've been okay. /
Huh? That wasn't scary at all... even Wise wouldn't flinch at that scene.Huh? That wasn't scary at all... even Wise wouldn't flinch at that scene.) - Alice: No, it totally was! The safe house the protagonist is hiding in... did you notice how asymmetrical it was?! Utterly horrifying!
That's what got you?!- (ProtagonistProtagonist): (Wait, that's what freaked you out?Wait, that's what freaked you out? /
Wait, that's what got you?!Wait, that's what got you?!) - (ProtagonistProtagonist): (Listen to me, Alice...Listen to me, Alice... /
Listen, Alice...Listen, Alice...) I don't think relying on warnings like this is going to help you overcome your fear of horror. You'll never get past it if you don't face it head-on. - Alice: But jumping straight in and watching without help would be far too...
A little humor might make it less scary.- (ProtagonistProtagonist): (How about this – let's try seeing the scary parts in a funny light. That's what I normally do. It's been really helpful for me.How about this – let's try seeing the scary parts in a funny light. That's what I normally do. It's been really helpful for me. /
How about we try to make those scary scenes funny, maybe crack a joke to lighten the mood? In this scene, the protagonist is hiding in a safe house, and the Lumberjack is banging on the door trying to get in...
- (ProtagonistProtagonist): (But how rude is that? There's a doorbell literally right next to the Lumberjack! But how rude is that? There's a doorbell literally right next to the Lumberjack! /
But c'mon, that's super rude, right? There's a doorbell right there! Literally right next to the Lumberjack! But c'mon, that's super rude, right? There's a doorbell right there! Literally right next to the Lumberjack!) - Alice: Pfft...
- (ProtagonistProtagonist): Although, to be fair, the Lumberjack probably isn't ringing the (doorbelldoorbell /
bellbell) because... he doesn't have any fingers. - Alice: Hahaha! What a strange way to see the situation!
Not so scary anymore, huh?- (ProtagonistProtagonist): See? When you think about it like that, (it's way less terrifying, right?it's way less terrifying, right? /
it makes the whole thing way less scary, right?it makes the whole thing way less scary, right?) - Alice: You're right... I watched the whole scene without even realizing it! Maybe I really can get used to horror movies this way...
- Alice: (WiseWise /
BelleBelle), can you keep doing your silly commentary for a little longer? - You happily agree to Alice's request and do your best to make the rest of The Port Peak as funny as possible. Alice laughs through the whole movie.
Still... it's pretty exhausting coming up with all those jokes. Judging from her expression, will she want to watch every horror movie like this from now on?
- (Alice Thymefield can now promote the video store.)
- (Idle)
- Alice: Horror movies... who knew they could be this much fun!
- (Talk to Alice again, optional)
- Alice: This is my first time watching a horror movie all the way through... (WiseWise /
BelleBelle), thank you for keeping me distracted with your funny jokes! - Alice: Let's watch horror movies together again sometime, okay? After I watch more of them... I think I'll stop being scared!
