List of Acts

Summary

A strange sound echoes across the ridgeline's edge...

Act I - Tepetli Dissonance

With your help, Cheven, the owner of Muhuru's Gemporium, escapes danger. She seems to have decided to prepare a gift for you as thanks...

While the Traveler and Paimon were strolling through Children of Echoes, they spot a young girl, Imix, crying. The two approach Imix, who explains that her master Cheven went to gather volcanic crystals in a dangerous area but hadn't returned even after a while, and that the guards didn't have time to help until they finished their preparations. Traveler offers to help, and Imix gives them a sketch with Cheven's location marked.

As Traveler and Paimon arrive at the marked location, they spot Cheven, who is surrounded by a small group of Treasure Hoarders. Traveler fights off the Treasure Hoarders, and Cheven thanks them and then introduces herself as a gem artisan. Cheven then comments to herself that she was luckier than usual that day. Upon hearing that Imix sent Traveler to save her, she sighs and explains her situation. According to her, she had discovered a large deposit of Volcanic Crystal of exceptional purity. Upon digging up some of the crystals, she was about to head home but the phlogiston within the crystals attracted monsters and the Shadow Pin crashed into the ground, leaving a massive crater, and the sound attracted even more monsters. Cheven panicked and took the narrow path to avoid the monsters, but was surrounded by bandits. Paimon asks her why she didn't leave all the crystals behind, so she explains that she left most of them behind but kept the purest chunks to bring back for Tlazolli, a former Ancient Name forger and her sick daughter Nechca, as a birthday present. Cheven then goes on to explain Nechca's situation with her illness and how her mother was taking care of her. She then invites Traveler and Paimon to visit Tlazolli the next day before heading back to her shop.

Act II - Hoarse Echoes

You and Cheven pay a visit to Tlazolli, and you discover that she gave up on her work to care for her sick daughter Nechca. Now that Nechca's condition is improving, things seem to be looking up for all involved...

The next morning, Traveler and Paimon meet up with Cheven at Muhuru's Gemporium, and Cheven asks Imix to watch the shop while she is gone. The group proceeds to set off to visit Tlazolli.

However, when they arrive at her house, no one answered the door. Cheven surmises that Tlazolli must have been out to buy medicine for Nechca. Paimon spots a Tepetlisaur nest, and Cheven explains that Tlazolli owned a Tepetlisaur named Iengu to help her with the digging work. Suddenly, she spots a pile of broken boxes, and Paimon is alarmed, thinking something bad happened. Traveler decides to take a closer look, so they approach the cliff, where they find Tepetlisaur tracks. Traveler indwells a Tepetlisaur and climbs the mountain. When they reach the top, they find a Tepetlisaur, but it is not the one belonging to Tlazolli. At that moment, they hear Cheven's shouts from the bottom telling them Tlazolli had retuned.

Traveler descends the mountain with the Tepetlisaur, where they meet Tlazolli and Iengu. Tlazolli apologises and explains that she was looking for her daughter when she snuck off. Paimon reassures her, telling her that they were dropping by to check of Nechca. Traveler asks her if Nechca is alright, and Tlazolli says that she's still weak because of her fever and is in bed after running around. Cheven cheers her up, saying it's supposed to be a happy occasion and reminds her about the gift, which turns out to be a Blazegem Inscription made by Tlazolli, a decorative accessory created using similar methods to Ancient Name forging. Cheven begins to describe the Blazegem Inscription, which persuades Paimon to ask Traveler to buy one so they can engrave their names on it. In the midst of their conversation, Iengu sidles up to them, frightening Paimon. Cheven asks Tlazolli to fix her Blazegem Inscription for her, and Tlazolli agrees, then thanks her for going all the way to collect ore for her. Cheven assures her that they all just want Nechca to recover. Tlazolli says that she would contact Traveler when Cheven was ready and line it up with Nechca's birthday so they could have a party. Paimon replies that it sounds great and the duo bid farewell to her. As the Traveler and Paimon leave, Tlazolli comments to herself that Nechca would be happy to meet them.

Act III - Melodious Chant

In the end, you, Xilonen, and "Nechca" saved the child whose true name is "Nepecha."
The strange noises that plagued the peaks are now still, the one behind the schemes has been brought to justice, and every "name" has returned to its rightful place. Nepecha's future is now in her own hands.
Perhaps one day, when the mist clears, she may also discover all about her "past"...
And learn the meaning of the name "Nepecha."
Threadlike Whispers

The next day, Traveler and Paimon visit Xilonen in her workshop. Before they step in, Avilix enters and starts to ask Xilonen for something, but Xilonen cuts her off and informs her where she put her axe. As she notices Traveler entering the workshop, Avilix decides to pick up her axe and leave. Traveler and Paimon exchange greetings with Xilonen, and Avilix mentions that Nechca's birthday is coming soon and asks Xilonen if she's planning to visit her. Xilonen replies that she won't be giving Nechca tools for her birthday since she wrote her a letter asking for a copy of the book “Tequil the Brave,” which she has a few old edition copies of. They start talking about Blazegem Inscriptions but Avilix finds that her memory is getting rusty, so Xilonen tells her to go home and rest, which she does.

Paimon invites Xilonen to follow her and Traveler to Nechca's birthday party, to which Xilonen agrees and asks them how they met Tlazolli. Traveler and Paimon explain their encounter with Tlazolli, and Xilonen comments that Tlazolli was “really pulling out all the stops for her daughter.” Xilonen then begins to describe the two versions of the book she is giving Nechca, which the group bring along to Tlazolli's house.
