Amos slain in battle against Decarabian

Amos was a renown hunter, who was offered to Decarabian by her clan to exchange for his favorite. Decarabian took a liking to her due to her bow skill, and elevated her to be his favored council. And so she became his executor, quenching all the enemies, rebels, prisoners for her king.[3]

Amos knew nothing about love and hate before meeting Decarabian, so she interpreted Decarabian's "love" in a twisted way. To her, his act of torturing, terrorizing the people was his "love", and she performed the same "love" to the population as well. However, as she was seeking love from him, she realized he would never love her the same way he loved his people. This led her to become disillusioned with him.[3]

She joined the rebellion consisted of the Nameless Bard, the wind spirit, Gunnhildr,[4] and a wandering Red-Haired Warrior.[5] People thought that she was forced to obey Decarabian and easily switched side to oppose him, not knowing the whole story.[6] In truth, she joined the rebellion to be able to show her final love to him. When she confronted Decarabian, Amos demanded his recognition and the two attacked each other at the same time, Amos firing an arrow at him and Decarabian sending his winds at her. Realizing they were truly incompatible, Amos was torn apart, while her arrow pierced and dispelled Decarabian's defenses.[2][3][7]

Trivia

  • Amos may be be based on Atalanta, a famous huntress and heroine from Greek mythology. In her myth she is said to have born in Arcadia, which could relate to the in-game Arcadia,[8] a lost and ancient civilization located in Mondstadt.
  • Venti's use of the bow may be in memory of her, just as he assumed the Nameless Bard's form and lyre-playing so he could live out the Nameless Bard's dream in his stead.
  • She appears to be left-handed, based on how she drew her bow using her left hand in The Boy and the Whirlwind cutscene.

Etymology

  • The masculine Hebrew name Amos (Hebrew: עָמוֹס ʿĀmōs) means "burden." Its most well-known name-bearer is the prophet Amos, a Biblical Old Testament figure who is credited with writing the Book of Amos.
