Venti[1][Note 1] was a boy who lived in Old Mondstadt 2,600 years ago, during the time of Decarabian's reign. He befriended the wind spirit who would eventually become Barbatos, the Anemo Archon of The Seven. After his death, Barbatos took on his name and remade his body in Venti's image.[2]

Story
Venti was a resident of Old Mondstadt who lived during Decarabian's reign in the era of the Archon War 2,600 years ago. Trapped within Decarabian's storm wall, he yearned to see the world beyond it and bonded with the nameless wisp of wind that would become Barbatos.[3] Venti led the rebellion against Decarabian with the help of the wind spirit, Decarabian's former lover Amos, Gunnhildr, and the Red-Haired Warrior.[4][5]
The rebellion succeeded and slew Decarabian. When Decarabian was slain, the bard strummed his strings to protect the people from the chaos caused after a god dies, invoking a tune that belonged to Istaroth, the Shade of Time. This tune, known as Mondstadt, allowed him to fling the tower to another time, to the surprise of even the Master of Time. However, mortal bodies cannot bear a nation's melody, so Venti's body fell from the tower, his name was swept away by the winds of time.[1] Despite this, he lived long enough to see Decarabian's fall, propped up in the red-haired warrior's arms with the wind spirit by his side.
After Venti died, the wind spirit ascended to become Barbatos, the Anemo Archon of The Seven, later bestowed Time's authority by the Shade of Time herself. Barbatos' first use of his powers was to reshape his body in Venti's likeness to pay homage to him and live in the world he never had the chance to see.[2] This act was either concurrent or followed by him claiming a 'strand of time from bygone days', as well as 'a name the reversal of years could not save'.

- The song in Freedom-Sworn, the Song of Resistance, may be the one that Venti played to break the storm barrier around Decarabian's Tower.[6]
- He appears to be left-handed, given how he plucks his lyre strings with his left hand.
