Trivia

• The Chinese name for this talent, White Board Kung Fu (Chinese: 白案功夫), comes from Chinese restaurant terminology. A 白案 "white board" chef plays a similar role held by a pastry chef in Western restaurants, and is in charge of dough-related dishes, particularly tasks such as making handmade noodles and dumplings. In contrast, a 红案 "red board" chef handles the preparation and cooking of meat.
  • The English name is a portmanteau of "dough" and "kung-fu." Coincidentally, "dough-fu" sounds very close to the Chinese pronunciation of tofu (豆腐 dòufu).
