Guhua Clan

Last updated 2026-09-10

The noblest martial virtue is to pursue that which benefits other people.

—The beliefs of the Guhua Clan[1]

The Guhua Clan (Chinese: 古华派 Gǔhuá-pài, "Sect of Ancient Splendor"), formerly known as the Guhua Brotherhood, is a martial arts school from Liyue that has experienced a significant decline over the past few centuries.

Overview

Although the clan recognizes Guhua as its founder, he was neither its first master nor did he ever take on a disciple. The clan was instead established after his death by Boxuan, also known as Master Baixuan, who once received his favor as a boy.[2] Boxuan proclaimed himself Guhua's disciple to carry on his legacy.[3]

Wangshan Hall serves as the clan's base and primary training ground, as it is where Guhua is said to have attained enlightenment. As a wandering hero, Guhua brought peace and justice during his travels and never intended to found a clan.[3]

The clan's teachings center on the Three Guhua Greats: Light Piercer for polearms, Rain Cutter for swords, and Life Ender for those who master both.[4][3] Guhua himself, however, wielded a claymore known as Rainslasher.[2]

In its heyday, the Guhua Brotherhood was renowned across Liyue for its chivalrous deeds and had hundreds of followers.[citation needed] Its members upheld the teachings of Guhua, traveling across Teyvat and gaining recognition for their mastery of sword and spear.[3] Over time, the organization declined and underwent several name changes before dwindling to only a handful of practitioners. Today, most focus on maintaining Wangshan Hall, or seek to restore the clan’s former reputation.
