During his youth, Keqing's grandfather knew Madame Ping, an adeptus who lived among the people of Liyue Harbor. She remembered him as a bold and diligent young man with a temperament very similar to that of his future granddaughter.^[1]

According to Keqing, Yelan's ancestors and her grandfather used to have academic collaborations in the past.^[2]

He was still alive during her childhood, but has since passed away.^[3]
