Mr. Nine

Mr. Nine is the author of "Legend of the Shattered Halberd" and "Flowers for Princess Fischl." His works are highly popular, and Fischl based her persona on the titular character of "Flowers for Princess Fischl."^[7] He apparently suffers from hair loss.^[8]

In truth, Mr. Nine is actually female and a Seelie friend of Nicole Reeyn, with whom she discusses ideas for stories before possessing authors in their sleep to write manuscripts.^[6]

Profile

Mr. Nine was formerly an Angel like Nicole, but like most of her fellow Angels, she degenerated into her current Seelie form due to the Heavenly Principles' curse. At some point, Nicole, who had many ideas for stories but found writing them down to be tedious, sought out Mr. Nine, who was an old Seelie friend of hers, to possess various writers and have Mr. Nine use their bodies to write stories in Nicole's place; among the writers she possessed was Chang the Ninth. Nicole came up with the identity of "Mr. Nine," coming up with several character traits to make his identity believable, such as a receding hair line. Through possessing writers and mobilizing their language faculties, Mr. Nine was able to eventually recover her capacity for speech. Mr. Nine would communicate with Yae Publishing House via letters sent from addresses all over Teyvat, never showing up in person.

Recently, Nicole sent Mr. Nine to monitor the situation in Nod-Krai, but as the situation was dangerous, Mr. Nine sent a letter to Yae Publishing House asking for help. This caused Onodera to visit Mondstadt and commission the Traveler and Fischl to track Mr. Nine down. The two first visited Chang the Ninth for clues, and while he was not Mr. Nine himself, they discovered traces on him connected to Mr. Nine. Using the traces, Oz tracked Mr. Nine to Nod-Krai, finding her confronted by two Wilderness Exiles and destroyed them. They then followed the Seelie, bringing them to a remote space with Nicole, who revealed her identity to them. Mr. Nine told Nicole she no longer wanted to serve as her eyes in the region and informed the Traveler about the royalties she had stashed for Chang the Ninth.^[9]
