Etymology

• Razmaspes is a compound of the Persian word razm meaning "war" and aspis meaning "shield" in Ancient Greek.
  • Razmaspes' daughter's name, Spargana, is derived from a Greek transliteration of Scythian sparɣa meaning "bloom" or "off shoot" and the Old Iranian nominal suffix ana. sparɣa was used in names of many historical Scythian figures such as the king Spargapeithes; in this context, "sparga" means "scion" or "descendant."
