Carmella is a mission-exclusive NPC on the Xianzhou Luofu. Later, she can be found on Astropolis, located in Lodestar Tower.

Profile

Carmella is an Intellitron from the Interastral Peace Corporation. She is an Interastral Peace Entertainment journalist-in-training and was sent to the Skysplitter on the Xianzhou Luofu to follow Owlbert to cover the Wardance. Due to Owlbert having many things to attend to, Carmella was assigned the job of producing a special program in which she interviewed popular contenders.[5]

Carmella is also an in-game script writer of the Keeping Up With Star Rail program.[6] She was the host of the following episodes, replacing Owlbert temporarily:

Not far away stood a slender intellitron woman, a vintage camcorder upon her neck, as she muttered to herself over a thick stack of interview notes.
This Intellitron... you clearly recognized her.
Carmella: Okay, keep smiling, keep smiling... You've been working for twelve hours straight, but that doesn't matter, what matters is the footage, the footage...
Carmella: Hello there! I'm Carmella, a reporter-in-training with Interastral Peace Entertainment. Do you have a moment for a quick interview?
Icon Dialogue Arrow Don't we go way back? Of course you can!
Icon Dialogue Arrow Forgotten me already?
Carmella: (Trailblazer)!? What are you doing in Astropolis!?
Carmella: Sorry! I haven't had enough sleep lately, so my facial recognition system might be a little slow...
Carmella: Never mind that for now! Let me finish up these interviews first, then I'll give you a proper tour of Astropolis. I know a few shops that are absolutely worth checking out.
Icon Dialogue Arrow Why don't you take a breather first?
Carmella: It's all good, I'm a sturdy Intellitron!
Carmella: And this is a critical phase for my career! Mr. Owlbert said if I come back with great footage for the show this time, I'm basically a shoo-in for a permanent position!
Carmella: I've clawed my way up from intern reporter to reporter-in-training, and now I'm just one step away from stable employment. I can feel it, the end is right in front of me!
Carmella: Though... I seem to think that after wrapping up every interview.
Icon Dialogue Arrow Is Owlbert still bossing you around?
Carmella: That's not entirely fair to say, though. Owlbert's actually been pretty nice to me.
Carmella: Oh, and the IPC just tightened their permanent placement reviews again. The odds of an intern journalist converting straight to a permanent role? Pretty much zero.
Carmella: It was Mr. Owlbert himself who helped me secure the special title of "reporter-in-training." Now even my name card is the same color as the full-time staff's.
Carmella: The cost, though? Doing a full-time employee's job on an intern reporter's paycheck.
Carmella: Hey, enough about me. I heard you've been on quite the adventure since we parted ways on the Skysplitter.
Carmella: Mr. Owlbert mentioned Amphoreus and Planarcadia to me. He was pretty vague about it all, so I wasn't sure whether I should be worried about you or not...
Carmella: But seeing that you're in a good state, I can breathe easy.

Carmella: Let's have a proper chat when you have some time. Not an interview, just two friends talking.

Carmella: Sure thing! I need a break from interviews anyway.
Icon Dialogue Talk What kind of interviews are you conducting?
Carmella: The hottest news in Astropolis right now is obviously Planarcadia. It's one of the IPC's most prized assets, after all.
Carmella: Mr. Owlbert sent me here to gather opinions from the regular employees of Astropolis on the Planarcadia incident.
Carmella: All told, I've interviewed almost three hundred people. Some worried about refugee resettlement, others thought we should cut our losses and walk away, but the majority of employees still supported saving Planarcadia.
Carmella: But at the end of the day, it's always the bigwigs up above making calling the shots. Do the voices of ground-level folks ever get heard?
Carmella: Even now, I'm still not sure if any of this footage actually means anything once it's all cut together.
Icon Dialogue Talk "Reporter-in-training" sounds a little bit odd.
Carmella: Honestly, I've known for a while that Owlbert made up that title himself.
Carmella: The IPC doesn't even have that position in their journalist system. He did try to get me a full time contract, but it happened to coincide with the journalism department's cost reduction initiative.
Carmella: Mr. Owlbert cooked up the whole "reporter-in-training" title just to keep me around. Sounds legit, but the rank literally doesn't exist.
Carmella: But I don't mind. Mr. Owlbert really did help me a lot. I've got perks of a full-time staffer, from travel expenses to recording equipment and press credentials.
Carmella: Besides, I genuinely love being a reporter. The title? That's the least of my concerns.
Carmella: It's just that every time I fill out an interview request form, I have to go through the whole song and dance of explaining my name card to the Employee Relations specialist...
Icon Dialogue Talk I figured you would've jumped ship by now.
Carmella: It's not like I've had zero options. A headhunter reached out to me not too long ago.
Carmella: The first company was "Cosmic Curiosities Express." They needed a frontline reporter to cover paranormal occurrences across various planets. Their reasoning for reaching out to me? "Eyes can deceive, but a camera lens never lies."
Carmella: The second one was a food channel. Decent benefits, but they required reporters to personally taste every dish. I don't exactly have taste receptors installed. Though, they did just say putting on a convincing "mmm, delicious" face would be good enough.
Carmella: As for the rest, I'd rather not get into it. Each one's stranger than the last.
Carmella: Sure Interastral Peace Entertainment has its cons, but working under Owlbert? At least I get to be a real reporter.
Carmella: Where else but the IPC could I get the chance to travel the whole cosmos and score interviews with big shots like you?
