Dolos was a mentioned city-state on Amphoreus that worships Zagreus.[3]
Overview
"The city of thieves" Dolos is located south of Janusopolis and north of the Grove of Epiphany.[4] It is the hometown of the Chrysos Heir Cipher.[5] The people of the city are obsessed with gambling and fanatical about luck, to the point that their windows can be an omen of good or bad luck.[6]
Once a thousand years ago, a Janus' Steed entered Dolos, attempting to gather how the locals planned to deal with the black tide. In response, the locals modified the Janus' Steed to appear as a dromas, which slowly removed its divinity and power.[3]
During the Chrysos War, the Dolos nobility took advantage of the unrest to acquire wealth, and "issued anti-fraud decrees to monopolize the city's financial channels, creating dire circumstances for ordinary citizens." To survive, many of the common thieves of the city left for other lands. Three hundred of these thieves garnered some renown, becoming known as the Three Hundred Rogues of Dolos.[4]
Dolos is also known for executing the deception called the "Divine Deception of Dolos," which fooled even the Titan of Trickery, Zagreus, themself. With the help of Aglaea and Tribbie, Cipher gathered the 300 Rogues to lay a trap and seize the Coreflame of Trickery, thereby completing the Divine Deception of Dolos and ascending as the demigod of Trickery later.[3]
It is implied through dialogue that a non-insignificant portion of the denizens of Dolos were cat-like people, if not all of them.[7][8]
