Fanyong

Last updated 2026-07-24

Fanyong (Chinese: 范勇) is an NPC on The Xianzhou Luofu, located on the Skysplitter.

Profile

Fanyong is an arrogant Wardance spectator with a disdainful opinion of the Wardance contestants, although he refuses to actually demonstrate his abilities against the Trailblazer or other powerful opponents on the Xianzhou Luofu. He claims to have destroyed beast ships, worked as a miner and mercenary, and fought the strongest warriors and creatures in the galaxy in his youth, although the veracity of his claims is questionable.

Voice Lines

(Version 1)
"Your footwork is sloppy! Your reactions, slow! Not a single move looks decent!"
(Version 2)
"It's a pity I've agreed to not use force while on the Xianzhou."

Dialogue

(First interaction)
Fanyong: Oh, what a shame! I thought you worthy, but I was wrong. This little Skysplitter boasted about attracting the greatest martial artists in the cosmos and got me all hyped up, but what a letdown it has been.
Icon Dialogue Arrow What do you mean by "worthy"?
Fanyong: I'm looking for a formidable opponent. I thought you were the one, but alas, that was just wishful thinking on my part. You're not strong enough.
Icon Dialogue Arrow You're the one who's not worthy!
Fanyong: I'm the one who decides who's worthy and who's not. You're bold to make such a claim, but you're simply not strong enough.
Fanyong: Don't get me wrong. You're already a standout among these clowns, but that's exactly why I found it a shame.
Fanyong: Just look at them. Feeble punches, unrefined swordplay, clumsy footwork, sluggish reflexes... It's a mystery why they even think they're good enough to be here.
Fanyong: They might as well fly a flag that says, "I'm just happy to be here!" All of them combined aren't even close to holding a candle to me!
Icon Dialogue Arrow You must be very strong then?
Fanyong: The strong do not parade their ability before the weak. Their mere presence speaks volumes.
Icon Dialogue Arrow Talk is cheap. Did you even sign up for the competition?
Fanyong: And play house with these kids? The thought alone is insulting enough. I refuse to lower myself to that.
Fanyong: I've defeated the Armed Archaeologists' task forces, taken down beast ships, and deflected ion cannons point-blank. One move is all I need to beat everyone here. If I step into that arena, the match would be over before it even begins, and where would be the fun in that?
Fanyong: Besides, I've signed a non-aggression pact with the Xianzhou and pledged to abstain from violence within the alliance's borders. If I fail to keep my strength in check and sink the Luofu, who's to be held accountable for that?
Icon Dialogue Arrow Confident, huh. Up for a spar?
Fanyong: Fledglings don't appreciate kindness anymore these days. For your own good, I'm not going to spar with you.
Icon Dialogue Arrow Didn't peg you for the kindly type.
Fanyong: Heh, I hear things like "Oh, Fanyong, you're too nice" all the time.
Fanyong: Ah, it's so lonely at the top. But I won't give up on searching for a worthy opponent. If you ever think of somebody that fits the bill, let me know.

(Subsequent interactions)
Fanyong: Sigh, so weak... Oh, you're back? This competition is painfully boring.
Icon Dialogue Talk I'd like to chat with you some more.
Fanyong: Sure. I'll keep you company then.
Icon Dialogue Talk About the contestants...
Fanyong: Hmph, they're lucky to be living in peaceful times. During the Denizens of Abundance Wars, those "moves" would have been more like dance arts than martial arts.
Fanyong: Especially those that prattle on and on about "ultimate moves," "secret arts," "arcane techniques" and whatnot. They weren't lying when they say it's the empty vessels that make the most noise. Only the weak rely on such tricks. True strength needs no embellishment, just raw power.
Icon Dialogue Talk I can recommend some formidable opponents to you.
Fanyong: They'd better be as "formidable" as you say.
Icon Dialogue Talk I'll go get General Feixiao.
Fanyong: It'd be terrible if news of the great Merlin's Claw losing to me in a duel outside the Xianzhou Luofu spreads. It could shake the unity and stability of the Xianzhou Alliance, especially among the Verdant Knights.
Icon Dialogue Talk I'll go get Lieutenant Yanqing.
Fanyong: I can't bear to see a young man lose his life so senselessly when he still has a bright future ahead of him. Give him time to grow.
Icon Dialogue Talk I know an Emanator who has lost her way.
Fanyong: Hah, an Emanator? Send me an Aeon, and we'll talk.
Icon Dialogue Arrow I'll take you on myself.
Fanyong: As I've told you before, you should embrace your life instead of throwing it away so carelessly.
Fanyong: Save your breath. I can't think of anyone who can beat me. Besides, it's been an issue for too long to be hurrying now.
Icon Dialogue Talk How did you get so strong?
Fanyong: I wasn't always this strong. When I was ten, it took me some effort to even bring down a beast ship.
Fanyong: I've worked as a miner and a mercenary. After my fortunes turned, I even spent a few years playing survival in the wild in the cosmos.
Fanyong: Guns and blades, beasts and bugs... I spent ages waging battle after battle against the mightiest creatures in the galaxy, all to hone my body.
Fanyong: It wasn't until one day when I looked back on my life that I realized that I can now sort people of this world into two categories: Myself, and the weak.
Icon Dialogue Exit I don't have any other questions.
Fanyong: Goodbye. I hope that one day you can become formidable enough to earn my approval.
Icon Dialogue Exit That's all for now.
Fanyong: Goodbye. I hope that one day you can become formidable enough to earn my approval.
