Morana

Last updated 2026-03-14

Morana is the goddess of nature and death of Jarilo-VI's Pantheon in its Mythological Tales. She represents the winter season of Jarilo-VI.

Profile

Morana is the daughter of Perun, and the sister and wife of Jarilo.[1]

Morana's death in the endless cycles of life and death would become the myth to explain Jarilo-VI's Eternal Freeze.[1]

History

Myths

Jarilo was noticed by Morana, and the two quickly fell in love with each other and had their wedding in the summer. This marked a peace between Perun and Veles. However, Jarilo was not a faithful husband, and in return, Morana killed Jarilo, using his corpse to build a new home. With the death of Jarilo, Morana would become depressed, and bring about a cold, bitter winter.[1]

Morana would die at the year's end, being reborn as Vesna. At the same time, Morana would also be reborn and the myth would start all over again. The endless cycle of the myths would continue until Morana grew tired of her fate, and decides to stop being reborn, which causes a long winter.[1]
