Dialogue
Main article: A Star is Born
- (First interaction)
Mr. Double Bass- Mr. Double Bass: Hey! You... Yeah, you! You must be our new boss! Am I right? I'm right, aren't I?
- Mr. Double Bass: Let's have a look-see... Mm, not bad. This face, this poise, you must be a brilliantly deified avatar of divine erudition with godly perspicacity...
Stop! Speak human, please...
Cut to the chase, what do you need me to do?- Mr. Double Bass: Ahem... What I meant is that you've got old friend vibes, and I feel like I simply have to chat you up...
Isn't it working hours right now?
You trying to get your new boss to slack off with you?- Mr. Double Bass: Hey! I... It's not like that at all! The automated orchestra has always been loyally industrious and hardworking to a fault! We wouldn't slack off during work hours! This... This is truly a horrible misunderstanding!
- Mr. Double Bass: I wanted to chat to you about work stuff! About how to increase our work efficiency, to improve on our performance environment...
- Mr. Double Bass: Look at this stage, on and off it... Yep, scrutinize it carefully: What do you see?
All I see is someone not doing their job.
- Mr. Double Bass: Hey! I already told you it's not like that... Forget it. I'll just get straight to the point.
It seems a bit quiet, doesn't it?
- Mr. Double Bass: Yep! That's absolutely right! That's why you're the boss, eh?
- Mr. Double Bass: What I'm thinking, is that it's just us automated instruments performing day-in, day-out. We've only got a few tunes in our repertoire, and it's not the least bit surprising that the audience gets bored after repeated showings.
- Mr. Double Bass: And I'll pre-empt you: Don't say something like "Why don't you learn new tunes" or something along these lines. We'd love that, but our previous boss was always preoccupied with "sense of style and taste," and would only allow us to play these few pieces over and over.
- Mr. Double Bass: I reckoned that in all your brilliance and enlightenment and astuteness... Ahem, you know what's up anyway, so I thought I'd offer a suggestion...
- Mr. Double Bass: If we invite a few celebrity singers to warm the crowd up and hype up our show, that'd get them all enthused and lively, wouldn't it?
Who do you want me to invite?
How about Miss Robin...
- Mr. Double Bass: Psh... Forget it, such a pitiful stage like ours... How about someone more attainable?
- Mr. Double Bass: It's not like our expectations are all that high. Fame is secondary, as long as the person sings well... Oh yes, I also have a teensy-weensy favor...
- Mr. Double Bass: It's... er... Boss, can you bring some music scores back? We've tired of those pieces since a long time ago, and even the crowd's spinning cobwebs just listening to the same tunes...
Sounds doable...
This is supposed to be your job!
- Mr. Double Bass: I know, I know, finding and composing new music are supposed to be part of my duty. But we've signed a contract with the airship, and we practically live on it. I'm afraid to violate the terms... which is why I'm sorta begging you here...
- Mr. Double Bass: Hey! You're the best, boss! It's settled then. I'll wait for your good news!
Mr. Double Bass- Mr. Double Bass: How'd it go!? You have a person in mind? And you found any music scores?
I know a singer, and her name is Cocona...[Note 1]
- Mr. Double Bass: Cocona? Never heard of her, so she's probably not some megastar...
- Mr. Double Bass: But since you recommend her, there must be something amazing about her. Let's hurry up and invite her!
- Cocona: I... Even with your reassurance, I'm still a little bit worried...
Don't be afraid. I'm your most avid fan.
Everyone will love your singing!
I will be applauding non-stop for you!- Cocona: Ha... This sight is familiar. Since you trust me this much, I must work harder to meet your expectations...
- Cocona: No matter what, I truly appreciate you for giving me this chance.
- Spurred by your sincere invitation, Cocona musters up her courage and stands on the stage.
- Cocona: ... I...*deep breath*... I'm very honored to be able to stand on this stage. Next up, I have a song for everyone, and it's called "Envision a Rose Forthcoming"...
- Confused Pepeshi: Who's that? Is that some small-time singer? I've never seen her before...
- Composed Lady: How would I know? She doesn't look like a professional singer from that pose of hers. Who knows where she got invited from...
- Cocona: "Close your eyes and look ahead."
- Confused Pepeshi: Ohh, her voice, it's beautiful...
- Cocona: "Those unfinished paintings and the songs that are still playing."
- Confused Pepeshi: It sounds so unique...
- Composed Lady: Shhh, pay attention.
- Cocona: "What would that vibrant world look like?"
- Cocona: "Will there be a dream there too?"
- Cocona: "Will there be a fathomless sea?"
- Cocona: "Will birds sing at sunset?"
- Cocona: "Can you smell the fragrance of time?"
- Cocona: "Lost ones, look forth. There lies not void."
- Cocona: "But that rose from future has yet to bloom..."
- The song ends, and the audience goes absolutely still. It's as if they are basking in the afterglow of the cadence, reluctant to return to their senses.
- A long time after, a single person's clapping shatters the deafening silence. And then it gradually grows louder into a rapturous, sonorous tide of applause.
- Amid the hall of raucous cheers and applause, you see Cocona staring at you. The limelight shining on her highlights the myriad stars in her limpid eyes.
- Cocona: Thank you, (Trailblazer).
- (Subsequent interactions)
Mr. Double Bass- Mr. Double Bass: Ah! Boss, you're here. Do you have anyone in mind for today's performance? I can help you make the arrangements.
I met a lady at the Dreamflux Reef...
- Mr. Double Bass: The Dreamflux Reef? What sorta place is that... It doesn't sound like it's on Penacony. Could it be... Woah! Boss, don't tell me you specially made a trip to the other Dreamscapes to look for a singer for us? Gosh, I love you to death...
I'm not. I didn't...
All right. Calm down first...- Mr. Double Bass: Okay okay, I'm super calm now, as calm as a thousand-layered sundae... Ahem. Boss! You should totally get her here first!
- (Galatea is invited to sing "If I Can Stop One Heart From Breaking")
- Enthralled by her limpid and mellow singing, the audience find themselves holding their breaths, for fear of spoiling her performance.
- The audience erupts into an encore chant right after she sings her final note, quieting down only after the singer shyly promises to do so next time.
- Mr. Double Bass: Of course, of course, you've definitely got taste, Boss.
- (Dialogue ends)
- (If Galatea has been invited before)
Invite that lady from the Dreamflux Reef.
- You remember meeting a lady at the Dreamflux Reef. After a moment's contemplation, you decide that this is the perfect opportunity for her to flaunt her talents.
- On your invitation, she agrees to perform.
- (Galatea is invited to sing "If I Can Stop One Heart From Breaking")
- She starts humming a song without music...
- It is as if her voice has some certain allure — the audience is a sea a silence. All eyes are focused on her.
- The song ends, and the audience rouses from a seeming dream, scrambling to pay tribute to her with applause.
- The person on the stage soulfully stares at you. You feel a certain appreciative sincerity from those eyes.
- (Dialogue ends)
Let's see if there're any scores you want...
- Mr. Double Bass: Woah! That's why you're the boss! You're the best boss I've ever worked for! Come come, what'd you wanna listen to? Pick anyone!
"The Midnight Special"
- Mr. Double Bass: Just one moment... Let us rehearse a little first...
- (Change the background music to "The Midnight Special")
"Hi, Dolly!"
- Mr. Double Bass: Just one moment... Let us rehearse a little first...
- (Change the background music to "Hi, Dolly!")
"Stranger Than Paradise"
- Mr. Double Bass: Just one moment... Let us rehearse a little first...
- (Change the background music to "Stranger Than Paradise")
Can you perform the song you're the most famous for?
- Mr. Double Bass: Sure thing. Please hang on for a moment while we make some preparations...
- (Change the background music to the unreleased remix of the Dreammerse Shopping Street theme)
That's it for now.
- Mr. Double Bass: Of course! Thanks, boss!
I'm busy, so I'll be heading off.
- Mr. Double Bass: No problem. Come back more often when you have time, Boss!
