Dialogue
"Eternal Holy City" Okhema
- (First interaction)
- (Talk to Petros for the first time)
- Petros: ...
- A burly guard looks at you, silent as ever.
- Strange, by this time you would normally have started chatting. Maybe give it another try?
- (Talk to Petros for the second time)
- Petros: ...
- You can't even be sure whether a pair of eyes lurks behind that deep slit in the helmet.
- Perhaps more attempts are required to initiate a conversation. Give it another go!
- (Talk to Petros for the third time)
- Petros: ...
- Is he truly looking at you, or is it the mist behind you that's caught his gaze?
- You can't be certain, but surely your enthusiasm has made an impression — although it might not have.
- Your intuition suggests you're on the verge of breaking through his social anxiety. Give it another try!
- (Talk to Petros for the fourth time)
- Petros: ...
- Come on, this is the fourth attempt, and this big guy still hasn't reacted?
- Akivili above, you've marked this silent one for conversation. Now, show him what it means to forge a Trailblazing friendship!
I'm gathering materials for a friend. Can I take a photo?
- Petros: ...Sure.
- You pull out your camera and take a cool artistic shot, yet the big guy doesn't move an inch.
"What a cool helmet!"
- Petros: ...It's all the same.
- Petros: But, thank you.
Perform a handstand.
- You pulled off a series of one-handed handstand flips that even Guinaifen would cheer for.
- The big guy doesn't talk, but he claps.
- Petros: ...Warrior of the outlands.
- Petros: You're strong. Saw it that day. Appreciate.
- Petros: I'm, on duty. Goodbye.
- The guard turns away, ignoring you completely. Shortly thereafter, whispers begin to echo around you.
- Chattering Voice: Incredible. I've spent years in Okhema and this is the first time I've seen this guard acknowledge anyone. Normally, he never responds, no matter how loudly we call.
- Chattering Voice: Yeah, check this out — hey man, Mountain Dweller bro! The weather's pretty good today, isn't it?
- He doesn't even turn his head.
- Chattering Voice: No one knows how that visitor did it. It is truly a rare event...
...Nice weather today, huh?
- Petros: ...It's, alright.
Do you have a problem with them?
- Petros: ...No.
Why do you only respond to me?- Petros: ...Words of warrior, more important.
- (Subsequent interactions)
- Petros: ...
- Petros: Warrior.
- Petros: ...
I'd like to chat with you.
- Petros: I am, on duty... Never mind, speak.
Regarding your people, the Mountain Dwellers...
- Petros: ...Curious about, Georios' people, you are first.
- Petros: Born with dromases. Cradle, crowded.
- Petros: Kephale gave, humans wisdom and resilience. Cerces gave, creations only wisdom. By Georios' time, little left.
- Petros: Georios gave us, lot of earth, making us tall and strong. We talk with, our arms.
- Petros: Still, we are mocked. No good jobs. Some became, blacksmiths. Others just iron blocks. We praise Kephale, praise Talanton. We are now guards.
- Petros: We envy dromases. They have wisdom. At least, more than us.
Tell me a story about you!
- Petros: ...Only truths, no stories.
- (Stories will be random each time asked)
- Petros: Most guards, in Okhema, Mountain Dwellers. We dedicated.
- Petros: Some odd. Beating them helps.
- Petros: Janus unsuitable. Paths, teleslates too small, for Georios' kin.
- Petros: Breaks once a month. No repayment required. Heard specialized ones, being made for us. Not known, how many Light Calendar years needed.
- Petros: Temple of Talanton, don't exist here. Priests, hard to find, or corrupt.
- Petros: Guards, salute each other. Each embodies, Talanton deeply.
- Petros: My house, heavy. Moving outside city, tiring. Necessary for, better duty.
- Petros: House made of earth. Must protect from dromases.
- Petros: Dromases' tongues, hard. Licking discomforts. I heard, it signifies, their affection.
- Petros: Prefer dromases, to stay distant. Very uncomfortable.
- Petros: Georios' kin, do not meet Thanatos. Simply return to the earth.
- Petros: Too bad, I wanted to greet, old friend.
No worries, guarding the city is tough work!
- Petros: Yeah.
Yeah.
- Petros: Yeah.

- Dorian: Food?
- Petros: Eat.
- Dorian: The usual?
- Petros: Yes.
- Cicero: Alas, dear hero, no matter how many times I hear it, I still can't wrap my head around this... concise way of speaking...
That's how friends talk.
- Cicero: You're right, I was thinking too much into it.
Just keep listening, you'll get it.
- Cicero: Indeed. You. Right.
- Cicero: My next lecture's theme is "Exploring the Mountain's Diner." But before that, I need to get acquainted with these silent giants first.
- Cicero: ...Esteemed guards! I heard you finally changed careers and opened a little diner?
- Dorian: Wrong, not a guard, a cook.
- Petros: Eat first, then talk. Here, Cicero. Take, hornswine skewer.
- Cicero: ...
- Dorian: ...Yummy?
- Cicero: I haven't eaten yet! I was just surprised you already knew who I was.
- Petros: Yes.
- Cicero: I'm moved! I'm going to get the real Phagousa's Blessing! I thought you didn't want to talk to me, but let's chat more!
- Dorian: Sure. Come diner. Chat.
- Petros: This one. Chatterbox.
- Dorian: Hero, join. If free.
