Dialogue
- (Approach Old Bai and Renke)
- Old Bai: (Mister/
Miss), I can see with a sidelong glance that you wield great power, and your aura is like no other. Like a savior from the heavens or a legend among men. I am certain that you must be a figure of great renown! - Renke: You're almost like, like... Like a Nameless of the Astral Express!
- Old Bai: Get with the script! We spent all that time rehearsing, and you've forgotten already?
- Renke: That script you wrote was way too embarrassing. Just reading it made my whole body cringe! I just can't bring myself to say it.
Go on. I imagine you want help with something?
- Old Bai: See, look how smart they are. They don't trip over their words like someone I know. Where's that usual spirit of yours gone?
- Renke: It's not like I can ask someone for help like I'm kicking back and catching up with a friend, is it?
Before you start, I don't run errands.
- Renke: Look what you've done, Old Bai. You've got them all shaken up! We've not even said anything, and they've shut us down.
- Old Bai: They're just joking. Stop being so serious!
(I sense this is going to be a pain. Time to turn and leave.)
- You subconsciously realize that while these two mean you no harm, what they want from you will take up a lot of time.
- You give them a smile that says: "If I get time, I'll come back and hear you out," then back away, back away and keep backing away until you reach a safe zone outside of this conversation.
- (Approach them again)
- Old Bai: You're finally back. I... I've been looking for you...
- (Go back to dialogue choice)
- Old Bai: I shall not deceive you. We do indeed have something we'd like to ask of you. I hear the Nameless of the Astral Express are always happy to help others?
- Renke: I thought you said if the Nameless were up to no good, they'd never be found out. Or even if they were, the higher-ups would never hold them responsible?
- Old Bai: No! Why do you keep trying to make us look bad?
Why don't I give you a moment to get on the same page?
- Old Bai: Brother, shut your mouth for just a second... Alright, now we're on the same page.
Let's be honest. You're up to no good, aren't you?
- Old Bai: Don't listen to him. We're do-gooders!
How long are you planning on talking? I'll grab a chair.
- Old Bai: Alright, I'll make it quick.
- Old Bai: Ahem, first, please allow us to introduce ourselves. This gentleman here is Master Renke. Before he retired, he was a Cloud Knight drillmaster who led a starskiff formation to undergo marshal inspection. Although now, he is no more than a babbling cycrane operator.
- Old Bai: As for myself, I am a wise and low-profile Artisanship Commission engineer. I actually collaborated on the design of a number of parts inside the firepower systems of the Skysplitter you stand upon now. However, I am now also retired, like the ship itself.
- Old Bai: Ever since its retirement, it has become a venue for all sorts of competitions and flourished in its new role. Seeing myself as a father to this ship, I admire it greatly, but I am also conflicted... What is to be done about those cannons? Did we not say: "The more the better, the bigger the more beautiful?"
- Renke: They are merely left there to gather dust.
- Old Bai: Leaving so many cannons unused is just a waste of resources! Even if you don't use live ammunition, just firing off a salute and hearing them roar would do!
- Renke: Heh, but guess what? They wouldn't let us.
- Old Bai: So, (mister/
miss), we wanted you to help us with a little favor.
I give you permission. You are allowed to fire your cannons on the Skysplitter!
- Old Bai: Your permission doesn't mean anything. What I'm asking, is that you go and fire the cannons for us!
You're not asking me to go and fire these cannons just so you can listen to them?
- Old Bai: I knew you'd get it, youngster! That's exactly what I hoped.
I'd like to hear what Master Renke wants from me, first...
- Old Bai: No! First come, first served. You have to do what I want first.
I've always wanted to fire those cannons!
- Old Bai: See, Renke? I told you they were our savior!
- Renke: I reckon (mister/
miss) could actually handle it!
This won't cause any trouble, will it?
- Old Bai: What trouble could it cause?
- Renke: If it isn't going to cause trouble, why don't you do it yourself?

- Old Bai: Take this. I've written a program into this jade abacus. You just need to insert it into the Skysplitter system and the program will immediately take control of the cannon systems and set off a 21-gun salute in a set order. It'll be a real blast!
- Old Bai: Given the artistic nature of this display, I've named this program... the "Wardance 21-Gun Salute"!
- Old Bai: Once you see them lighting up the skies, hear the cannons roaring and catch sight of the waves of people under the waving flags, you will understand what "cannon spirit" means! You have to set them off. You must! You'll regret it if you don't!
- Renke: Pfft... cannon nerd.
No one's going to get blown up, are they?
- Old Bai: Relax, the amazing thing about this "Wardance 21-Gun Salute" is that they can still roar out without even being loaded!
- Old Bai: You just focus on firing those cannons and let me take care of the rest.
They're just going to let me fire them?
- Old Bai: As long as you pretend you're working, the people in the control room will selectively ignore you.
- Renke: If anyone tries to stop you, just tell them that you're there to fix the air conditioning.
What if something goes wrong?- Old Bai: You have to make it work. We'll fire those cannons at any cost.
- Old Bai: I won't cause you trouble. If things get sticky after you fire the cannons, just tell them, "Old Bai made me do it. If you must blame someone, blame him!" They will just sigh and let you go.
- Old Bai: Just give them our names and tell them to come and get us.
- Old Bai: I'll hand this jade abacus over to you. Please, you absolutely, definitely, undeniably must insert it into the control room system.
- Renke: As for what I want, we can discuss that on your triumphant return.

- (Talk to Old Bai again, optional)
- Old Bai: Please, you absolutely, definitely, undeniably must insert it into the control room system.
- Renke: As for what I want, we can discuss that on your triumphant return.
- (Go into the control room)
- (Trailblazer): (This must be the control room that Old Bai mentioned.)
- (Trailblazer): (I just need to look around for a place where the jade abacus can fit...)
- (Listen to the Serious operator and Dispirited operator)
Listen- Dispirited operator: It's been a long time since Old Bai has come stirring up trouble. You don't think he's really given up, do you?
- Serious operator: Old Bai treasures this ship like he does his own life. The Skysplitter is his child that he designed himself, and it is the face of the Xianzhou.
- Serious operator: His child has made an honorable retirement. As its father, you can understand why he would want to see it shining as it fires its cannons once more.
- Dispirited operator: Nonsense! If you ask me, that old geezer just likes watching explosions...
- Dispirited operator: Heyyyy! My friend, this is not a place for you to be wandering around.
(Ignore him)
- Dispirited operator: Hey, I'm talking to you...
- Dispirited operator: (Do you know who that is?)
- Serious operator: (I've never seen (him/
her) before. (He's/ She's) not some kind of leadership, is (he/ she)...) - Dispirited operator: (Which leader?)
- As they descend into confusion, you unhurriedly approach the control station.
I'm here to fix the AC.
- Dispirited operator: Oh! You're here to fix... Wait, is our AC broken?
- Serious operator: Is it? I think it might be. I'm not sure. Get someone to check.
- Under the gaze of the two operators, you casually pull out the jade abacus and pretend to be fixing it as you slowly approach the control station.
Don't shoot! Old Bai told me to come!
- Dispirited operator: What did I tell you! I actually want to see what Old Bai is playing at this time.
He wants me to fire the cannons.
- Dispirited operator: Tell him to come himself.
He wants me to tell you: "I love you."
- Dispirited operator: Good. I love him too. Now tell him to stop causing trouble.
I surrender! I surrender!
- Dispirited operator: What have you done? Why are you surrendering?
- There's no time for all this. You hurry your steps over toward the two operators and rush over to the control station.
- Woah... There are so many ports. Which one is the jade abacus supposed to go into?
- Forget it. Just stick it in a random one.
- (Submit

"Wardance 21-Gun Salute" ×1) - Dispirited operator: Stop!
- The Skysplitter's cannons begin to ring out in a set rhythm like a roaring symphony. This is it! This is the "cannon spirit" that Old Bai mentioned.
- In the booming of the "Wardance 21-Gun Salute," you finally understand... One explosion can make you feel great for a moment, and constant explosions can make you feel great forever.
- You walk along the border of the ship as you admire the booming salute. Before you know it, you find yourself back where you came from.
- (Talk to Old Bai)
Old Bai- Old Bai: The second group of cannons on the starboard side sounded a little dulled, but otherwise, that was perfection.
- Old Bai: Well, (mister/
miss), did you feel the "cannon spirit"?
Twenty-one explosions just weren't enough.
- Old Bai: That's where you're mistaken. According to interastral custom, the 21-gun salute is considered the highest courtesy.
I've always wanted to do that, and that feels great!
- Old Bai: Now you understand why I came to you.
Setting off a cannon may be fun, but you'll regret it in prison when you're done!
- Old Bai: Enough of that. As soon as they saw the program, they came looking for me and I graciously admitted that it was my work.
- Old Bai: I won't cause you any trouble!
- Old Bai: Renke! You have something you wished to ask of the (boy/
girl), don't you? Say something!
Make it quick. I'm charging you separately.
- Renke: I'll give you an IOU from Old Bai.
What? Are we not done here?
- Renke: It's just a small favor.
- Renke: Well! Youngster, have you ever noticed the Skysplitter display team?
I have.
- Renke: But you've never seen them fly in formation?
I haven't, why?
- Renke: I knew it.
- Renke: Before I retired, I put together a Cloud Knight display team, and I have been invited to do the same since my retirement. I designed an unbelievable flight formation performance, especially for the Skysplitter Wardance.
- Renke: "The six-plane triangle dive," "the six-plane side roll," "the five-plane horizontal chandelle," "the four-plane vertical chandelle..." But you know what? No one even noticed!
The spectators were all looking down, as looking up hurts your neck.
- Renke: That may be true, but it's not enough to convince me!
Well, who can you blame for that? Your talents are clearly too well hidden.
- Renke: I used to be certain that they'd notice!
- Renke: If you stand on the Wardance stage and look up, you can see a full five-minute flight display with no repetition!
- Renke: The Skysplitter is so vast, and you're telling me that not a single person here understands the beauty of a display team? Are you sure these spectators are even fit for the job?
- Old Bai: Renke is just like this... As soon as he gets talking about his display team, his morality gets a little lax.
- Renke: So, what I want you to do is obvious...
I really want to see the display team...
- Renke: Haha! I knew that you had fine taste from the moment I met you!
You're not asking me to shoot them all down with the cannons, are you?
- Old Bai: Fine taste, youngster!
- Renke: Shut your trap!
Sheesh, who would care about watching that?
- Renke: Humph! Only someone who had never seen my display team with their own eyes would dare make such an ignorant statement.
- Renke: Well, seeing is believing. I will take you to go and see a truly unbelievable flying performance for yourself.
Alright, let's go.
Let me catch my breath for a second.
- As you arrive at the Skysplitter stage, you feel Renke fix your line of sight using some strange methods.
- The flight team is still yet to arrive. Behind you, you can sense a restlessness emanating from Renke.
- It's like you excitedly tell your friends about a movie being "the best thing you'll ever see, a work of art" only to get to the cinema and find out it's not even due to be released in theaters... All the artistic talent and ingenuity that you wanted to prove to the world has gone up in smoke, just like that...
- Just as you planned to turn back to Renke and tell him, "Let's forget it for today. We'll try again next time..." there was a sudden turn around...
- Renke's pride and joy, the flight team, it's here!
- Renke: Chest out! Head up! Higher! How are you going to see my display team in the skies if your head is buried like that?
- Renke uses the arm strength he used to train 800,000 Cloud Knights to forcibly fix your line of sight on the skies.
- Renke: This formation is adapted from ancient Xianzhou military formations. As they retreat, they tighten ranks to defend. As they attack, they advance straight. The routine changes endlessly.
- Renke: But don't think that this is all they've got to offer. From the most simple to the most complex maneuvers, they are all based on this simple square formation to allow for complex changes in large-scale combat operations.
- Seemingly lured in by your strange behavior, more spectators have begun to raise their eyes to the skies as the sounds of camera shutters begin to snap endlessly.
I've seen it. Can we go now?
- Renke: You've barely seen anything yet!
Be gentler on people, that felt like a robbery.
- Renke: Relax, I don't want your money. I just want you to raise your head.
I... I don't see anything?
- Renke: How? Take a closer look! Oh, I get it. You've been watching on your phone, haven't you?
So? I watch everything on my phone.
- Renke: That's where the problem is!
What's this got to do with my phone?
- Renke: It has everything to do with it!
- Renke: You need a far more powerful device to properly enjoy a flight demonstration! Do you understand me? You'll never see it on a phone!
- Renke: There are many things in this world that just will not be seen if they are not observed closely, and my flight team is one of those things.
- Renke: ...However, there is no need to worry. You will still be able to see my flight team's performance, even if I'm not with you. Make sure you watch it on something better than a phone, though!
- Renke: Of course, I'm not planning on holding your head the whole time and forcing you to keep watching the flight team... You are free now, free to watch as you please. If you have any thoughts to share after watching, make sure to come and tell me!
- Renke: Let me explain further... The true beauty of this matrix lies in that it seems to repeat itself, but is constantly undergoing changes, preventing the enemy from predicting what lies ahead. Attack the head and the tail will lash out, attack the tail and the head will strike, attack the middle and both ends will convene on you.
- Renke: The thriving vitality and fierce competition of the battlefield are shown right here, before your eyes.
- (Talk to Renke)
Renke- Renke: Hold on! The best part is still to come —
It's still not over yet?
I've memorized all the formations already.
I forgot to turn off the gas on the Express...- Renke: ...Wait, look! They've finally noticed, my exquisite flight squad!
- Rumor has it that Renke holding your head while explaining the correct view to watch the display quickly became a trending topic on various popular sites.
- Just like that, Renke was able to fulfil his dream. Truly a joy, truly a reason to celebrate.
- Old Bai: Just like that, we two old Skysplitter veterans have fulfilled our long-held dreams.
- Renke: Thank you, (mister/
miss).
I can really feel your love for it.
- Old Bai: No one has a greater love for the Skysplitter than I do.
- Renke: Nor me.
That's it for your wishes, surely?
- Old Bai: I want to set off the cannons again.
- Renke: Stop trying to make it difficult for (him/
her).
- Old Bai: It feels comparable to if my daughter has grown up, and I'm finally giving her away on her wedding day. It's a bittersweet happiness...
- Renke: We also gave this place all of our life-long knowledge. I hope that when the spectators raise their heads to the skies, they will remember the great mission she once carried.
- Old Bai: Finally, thank you again for helping to fulfil our wishes.
- Renke: These are your much deserved rewards. Farewell!
