Slenderboo is a commission-exclusive NPC who first appeared during the commission The Mist of Dark Alleys.

Profile

Slenderboo is an unusually proportioned Bangboo. He is the source of the urban legend known as the "Slenderboo" - an entity that appears in the dead of night and abducts children, but this legend is based mostly on his appearance and not his actions.

Slenderboo's body is limited in numerous aspects. He cannot speak the En-Nah Language, and had to learn the Universal Language on his own. He cannot charge via normal charging stations, relying on old batteries to stay active, and his Logic Core cannot be removed from his body, meaning he can never leave his current body. Given these problems, and the scorn he faced from most people he met, Slenderboo is an incredibly lonely individual, though nowadays he has people like Zeppelin, Griff Ashton and Prophetboo looking out for him.

History

Slenderboo was created in part as a mistake, and he was originally planned to be scrapped due to his awkward body, but he managed to escape. Due to his appearance, Slenderboo couldn't find work or go out and meet others. Instead he lived in a movie theater and learned the universal language there, before the place closed down and he was forced to dwell in the Retroflux Zone, stealing batteries to get by.

He eventually came to know Zeppelin, and stole the identity of another Bangboo to get money out of her, lying to her about going to travel the world, not realising that she quickly saw through his ruse, and sent him money to help because she saw how rough of a time he was having. He sent her letters her periodically telling her about his made up travels, but the more she responded in earnest, the worse he felt for lying to her. Slenderboo tried to turn his life around and do good deeds, but people were always terrified of his appearance, and never listened when he tried to explain himself. At times, people would throw rocks at him in fear.

Despite his history as a thief, Griff of the En-Nah Gang turned a blind eye to his presence as long as he didn't harm any Bangboo in the gang, but at some point a Bangboo in the En-Nah Gang put up wanted posters about Slenderboo as a prank. This culminated when a trio of Bangboo from the En-Nah Gang beat him up, tied him up and paraded him in front of the gang. While Griff reprimanded them and they freed Slenderboo, he left in silence, destroyed by the event. Though he later was able to save a little girl named Sprig from almost falling in to the fountain at Emerald Central Park, he ultimately decided to take his own life, throwing himself to his death in the sewers.

Fortunately, Phaethon, who has been trying to help Zeppelin locate him, managed to stop him in time, and reassured him that Griff, Prophetboo and Zeppelin all cared about his wellbeing. Using a Mr. Roar costume they snuck Slenderboo to Gear Street where he confessed to his wrongdoings to Zeppelin, who dismissed them and reassured him she still cared for his wellbeing. She then offered him the duluxe package to get cleaned up and updated at The Fuzzy Wrench.
