Hoshimi Souichirou is an event-exclusive NPC. He is the seventh-generation head of the Hoshimi Family[Assumption 1] and the father of Hoshimi Miyabi.
Profile
Hoshimi Souichiro is the current head of the Hoshimi Family. He forged the scabbard for Tailless, and relinquished his right to wield it in favour of passing it down to his daughter Miyabi. He appears to dislike alcohol, swapping it out for juice whenever he is given some in formal events. He is also very proud of his daughter, and is shown to brag about her strength and talent.
History
Prior to the events of the game, Souichirou met Officer Zhu Yuan while she was Miyabi's classmate at the Public Security Training Academy.[1]
When Miyabi was kidnapped by Inspector Justin Bringer, Zhu Yuan and Phaethon sought Souichirou's help in uncovering Bringer's motives. They were able to contact him through Von Lycaon, who had previously worked for the Hoshimi family.[1]
While Souichirou was initially hesitant to reveal his family's secrets to outsiders, he agreed to help after Phaethon proved their friendship with Miyabi. He informed them that Bringer was likely after Miyabi's cursed katana, Tailless, due to the power it possessed. He also warned them that Miyabi would be in grave danger should the katana's scabbard be compromised.[1]

As explained in Phaethon's Story, A Storm of Falling Stars (B), Episode 1: Bringer's Scheme, mere ownership of Tailless makes you a Swordmaster, with previous heads of the family having used the sword without having the skill that the title suggests. However, Souichirou does not own the sword, while Miyabi has not inherited the title of Hoshimi family head due to her mother's untimely passing. This would make Souichirou the seventh-generation head, while Miyabi is the seventh-generation Swordmaster.
