Trivia
- In the Chinese title, while 小灶 can also be used figuratively for "special treatment", the term originated to specifically designate the mess hall where a restricted group of high-ranking cadres are served higher-quality food compared to the lower-ranking soldiers.
- "The yellow ribbon tied to the oak tree" refers to the practice of tying a yellow ribbon to a tree as a way of remembering or welcoming back loved ones who are serving in the military or who were imprisoned. The practice itself was popularized by the 1973 song "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree."
